It would depend on the seriousness of the fighting. If I knew there were two people upstairs and there was serious fighting going on such as you know that someone is being pounded, I would most certainly call the police. If they are just screaming at each other and that is all that happens then I would probably just let them fight. Different circumnstances would also make my decision. If they had children and there was serious yelling I would probably most definitely report it if it was an ongoing thing. Children should not have to live through that type of emotional abuse. It doesn't matter if they are not the ones being yelled at.

just depends what they are fighting about. If i heard someone getting seriously hurt i would call the police. Domestic Voilence is a crime!

I totally agree with you. Too often the victim of domestic abuse is too frightened to report the abuse themselves.

In fact two weekends ago, on a Saturday night, I heard the people upstairs. There were loud voices and screaming. I listened awhile to see if I would hear angry voices. It didn't take very long for me to know someone was in trouble. The sound of glass shattering was enough for me. Right then I called 911. Five minutes later the police there. The noise stopped, the police left and I have never heard another noise since, except for normal walking. I have not heard anything else from anyone about it either. You should phone 911.

I was in a similar situation about a year or so ago, I did nothing, turns out I should have. The guy upstairs was beating his wife, I didn't know it, but I wondered. Had I called the cops I would have saved everyone a lot of trouble because he ended up stabbing her. SHe is ok now, she has some scars, but she's alive and he is in jail.

If you are truly concerned you can call 911 and report a domestic disturbance. This might be appropriate if you fear that the argument my escalate to violence. Believe me... there are many abused wives out there who would appreciate such a call.

my neighbors are quarlsome people so I try to ignore it until it goes so bad that it interrupts something I'm doing like sleeping, or if it sounds really bad I would go over to see what to help.

If it is aregular thing of them to fight I WILL IGNORE IT.oTHERWISE i MAY GO AND TRY TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND TRY TO HELP THEM OUT.But in todays world they would not be happy about your help. They will think it is an interference. sso you have to be caraeful for trying to help also.

If it's a big fight call the police and ask them to keep your name out of it and just make sure everyone is okay for you. If it's something little I would stick my head out and tell them to shut up.

try and show concern, ask to know what brought aboutthe fight. do as much as you can to resolve it, don't just let it be it not right show little care.

The last time this happened to me I just walked over and offered to take the children to my house so they would not be afraid if the police had to be called. They were very grateful and resolved the problem without any further action.

Our first impulse is always to stay out of it. However, look at the crimes that happen right in front of people! People have gotten murdered while everyone stood around and watched without helping.
