Okay I spend a lot of time at home, You see I'm unemployed, and not studying at the moment, I live with my parents and sisters. I go out once a week on Thursdays to the mall and once every two weeks maybe hang out with friends, but other than that I pretty much spend my time at home. Now, I've had a lot of people ask me this, "don't you get bored at home?" I don't really understand that, I love being at home, I can do what I want, and the days go by like crazy, contrary to the misconception that time slows down when you're at home. Don't get me wrong, I am a fun person, I like to try new things, and I also like to go out, people would say I have an outgoing personality, but I also love spending time at home, mostly I'm on the net or playing video games, but that's not all I do, sometimes I take up new projects, like anything I wanna do, I spend time with my family, and yet, I've met people who are so surprised when they find out that I actually like spending time at home. I know some people who don't even like going home. What kind are you? Do you like to be out or do you like to be at home?

hmm. so, more or less, i am like you or you are like me. glad to know i am not alone in this world. i am not working at the moment, too. i am waiting for my visa so i could join my boyfriend in sweden. might arrive in september or october. so, i thought to not try and look for work first and spend time at home. i love to be at home. i feel at peace here. i spend time with my parents and younger brothers. i do almost all the chores at home and i love doing the chores which people find crazy about me. when tired, i can sit down, relax and watch a film... good thing is, the whole family watches with me. when i am hungry, i just eat what i can get from the kitchen. i have my pets with me to play with. more so, i have myLot to spend time with... where i meet lots of friends full of fun and mystery... thing is, i earn while being on myLot. i have online investments, too. i go out to the mall once a week to window shop or buy something i wanna buy. i go out with friends, too atleast twice a month. people say, i am a loner... which i am really not. i love poeple. i just feel like i wanna be at home most of my time. home is where my heart belongs. happy myLotting vega!

Hey good to know someones in the same boat as me, and people say a lot of things. Just because we can enjoy just by ourselves, they might think we're loners, but like you, I love going out too. There is so much you can do while being at home to and have a good time. Although, one thing is different, I actually don't do a lot of chores around the house, ahem, sometimes I feel like a spoiled brat, I am lazy, so lazy he he.

yeah, exactly, we don't need people around, we choose to have people around us, and we don't need to be alone, we choose that too, and in both cases enjoy ourselves, that's the best.

Good for you, I know a stay at home mom is one of the toughest jobs or as they call them today, domestic engineers. Of course, these are choices we make, no one has forced you do so, which means you're doing exactly what you want and that is great.

I'm medically retired and suffer with depression, so I tend to stay at home. I know how stupid this sounds, but the reason I stay at home so much is because every time I go out somewhere I feel like everyone is staring at me, pointing at me, whispering things about me....the stupidest thing of all is that I know they ARE NOT doing this, but I still feel like they are and it really gets to me badly. What an idiot eh?

What bugs me the most is I used to deal with hundreds (somtimes thousands) of people daily when I worked in security...and now I go into town to do some shopping and nine times out of ten I'm physically sick or suffer a major panic attack. I know I have to fight this, but it seems to get harder each time. I sometimes wonder if it is a case of me just being weak...but I really hope to get over this one day, we shall see.

No you're not being an idiot. But I guess what I'm about to say is easier said than done, but I'll say it anyway. My brother in law had the same problem, he had cancer because of which he had to lose his left leg from above the knee, he wears a prosthetic but before he had a hard time going outside, this was before he had married my sister. But eventually, he realized that people don't point and don't talk about him, and that it was mostly all in his head. So now he's confident, and it's not an issue any more. It's just something you will have to overcome psychologically. Again, it's easier said than done, I know, but think about it. People are not generally cruel. And the kind of people who would do such a thing, if any, then do you really think that you should care what losers like those think anyway? You shouldn't be confined to home because you have to, but only because you want to.

Maybe you just gotta stop thinking so much, but I do know these things take time, and eventually you'll do it. Best of luck with that!!

As you know me very well,I'm finishing college and my exams are due on May.So after that i'd be left with nothing else or atleast for a few moths till I get a new job.So I'd be forced to stay most of the time at home whether i like it or not.I've also spent a lot of time at home this year when i had to work on my engineering projects. So i do know how it feels to be at home.I dont mind staying at home.It can be fun but it depends on what you do sitting at home.I make the most of it by staying at home. But i hate it when everybody's at home.I like to be alone or atleast only few of them with me.Otherwise it gets to crowded.lol I love being outside too.Fresh air and the lovely ambiance of being outside.lol.In fact i can spend all day outside too. That brings us to the conclusion that i dont mind being at home nor going out too.Thats why people thing i'm very adaptive.

adaptive, huh? Well, me, I'm the same, I don't mind crowds or being alone, I don't mind noises and I don't mind the silence when everything is so quiet that you can actually hear your thoughts. I guess it all comes down to if a person enjoys their OWN company, because if they do then alone or in a crowd, they'll always have fun.

Though I like spending time at home, I really can't see myself spending all my time at home. I have never been at home for extended periods of time. Even during my academic vacations, I never stayed at home. I would either find myself a part-time job or spend most of the time, traveling around town and out of with my many friends. I have been working right through college. It's only now that I'm pursuing a full time course, a post graduate diploma in software technology, that I find myself with no time to do anything else, but then, I'm not at home either! I live in a hostel. My home is in a different city altogether, and I have visited my parents only once in the past year. I probably will also find a job right here in the city where I'm currently studying and it might just make me a visitor to my own house!

Wow, you certainly are busy, really busy, you wanna hear my routine, it will probably make you laugh, but here goes anyway, I wake up, go online, have lunch, play video games, and then pretty much that's it, Oh, I forgot I do also watch TV. Yeah, life's good.

I am also unemployed at the moment and I so wanted to go home and stay there soon. You see, I've been here in the city doing my stuff for so long and whenever I get the chance to go home on vacations or something, boy am I the happiest! haha! So now that I'm doing professionally-nothing at this time, going back home surely is worth all the boredom I've been experiencing lately.=) I am also outgoing, my friends would call me 'funny girl', not that I look funny or weird though but I'm such a crazy one. But when I think of home, It felt good inside...meeting long lost friends, driving the 'trafficless' highways, early morning sunshine, lots of fruits and vegetables, coffee by the porch, proper meals at proper times (lolz) and so on! It's actually fun to be home and I'm glad you love it there too..and yes, there's no place like home. *wink

I guess your situation is a little different than mine, but the feeling is the same, we both enjoy our time being home, even though we are outgoing too. Why can't both co-exist, right?

I like to stay at home too, it's good to go out and go places sometimes but not all of the time, we need to feel some privacy and to be around our "things" books, computer, games or whatever. I see many people live like travelers and hardly spend any time at their homes, I guess they don't get attached to people or things, they just want to move around. I also believe if you can't be your own best friend you can't be a good friend for anyone :) some people runaway from themselves by being with other people all of the time and away from home. I have plenty of things to do at home so I'm never bored so I understand what you mean and I think it's very normal :)

That's right, I really liked the way you put it, "if you can't be your own best friend, you can't be a good friend for anyone", that's is so true.

I think I am a bit of both, I enjoy going out, seeing friends, having a good time. But I also like to be at home, play some ps2, go online, read, spend quiet time, I don't live with large extended family. I live with my partner, and my dogs, but I like knowing that I can spend my time, my way when I am at home, and if this means not rushing in the shower in the morning but putting it off for a half hour or so while I play with the pooches, fine. I can do that. I can put on my slippersocks and never need to wear shoes, which I have never liked doing. I can dress how I want, do what I want, there are of course some limits, I mean there are chores etc around the house that I have to give time to, but this has to be given time to whether I go out or stay home. So I think I am balanced to somewhere in between of liking both, and mixing things up, and even having friends or family come over as well.

Yeah, a good balance is great if it can be maintained, and in the end it's all about what you are happy in doing, if you like going out, then you should, if you like staying home, then you should. I think that I like doing both, and the reason for that is mainly that I can enjoy my own company, so I'll never be bored anywhere, whether I'm alone or in a crowd.

Well, i guess if you have too much to do you can't get bored, also as long as you don't have any annoying personality to live with then home should be the best place anyone can be :)

Well there's no shortage of annoying people in any house, and mine is no exception, I guess, if you cant' beat 'em then join 'em, that's what I do.
