I read a lot and quite often even in the books where dicribes serious metters can be some parts which make me laugh. I like reading books filled with satire, irony or just humor. I like P.G. Wodehouse's books, as well as i was laughing when was reading "Catch 22" by Joseph Heller.

I have never officially read any of PG Wodehouse's books, but have seen the BBC series "Jeeves and Wooster" and loved it--very funny and witty! Christopher Moore is good for a laugh as well..I haven't read much by him, just "Lamb" and "Fluke" so far, but, like Douglas Adams, his books are humorous but also send postive messages (or make you think). One of my all time favorite funny books is "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimen. Actually "Anansi Boys" by Neil Gaimen is pretty funny as well! Carl Haissen is another humorous author with a purpose. His books have outrageous and zany characters but all his books have an underlying theme of ecology.

Great response, thank you. I think i am going to check those books, i beleive they are not worse then PG Wodehouse's books. Actually i notice most of people have seen "Jeeves and Wooster" but havent read books. I just the opposite have seen only one episode of serial, but read books and not only about Jeeves and Wooster. For my eyes Wodehouse is really wonderful humorist.

Of course I have read books that have made me laugh. Not only do characters in dramatic books (The Hunt for Red October and the like) sometimes use humor to break tension, but I have also enjoyed some truly funny humor books.
My top ten humor books are:
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
Life, The Universe and Everything
So Long and Thanks For All the Fish
Mostly Harmless
Dave Barry Slept Here
Summer of '42 (not precisely a humor book but has more than its share of funny bits)
Naked Came the Manatee
Bloom County Babylon
The Doonesbury Chronicles
Doonesbury's Greatest Hits

I have read several books by Christopher Moore that have made me laugh out loud. Also some of Bentley Little's scary books make me laugh.

I like PG Wodehouse, and Douglas Adams. Right now I am reading "Marley and Me" by John Grogan. It's about life with "the world's worst dog". I don't often laugh out loud when I am reading, but I have been laughing reading this book.

The first book that really made me laugh out loud was Bridget Jones' Diary. Unfortunately I was on an airplane at the time, so I looked fairly silly. Before that I wasn't really into humorous books, but since then I find I really like a nice light, funny read sometimes.
