I love working with cotton, but I love satiny fabrics too. cotton and fleece are super easy to work with

I love flannels. I've made more flannel jammies for my kids than they can actually wear. I'm sad that the weather is warming, and they don't need them anymore. I also love sewing with fleece. I've got a few fleece blankets under my belt, and they are so warm and cuddley soft!
My son asked for a stuffed animal made out of really shaggy fur. I'm not looking forward to that. :)

can be hard to work with but as long as you take your time with furry material it's pretty easy to work with. do everything inside out leaving a 4 inch slit in the leg when finished using a wooden stick or yardstick to help turn it right side out when done sewing then stuff it fully keeping it tight then sew up the slit at the last have fun will last for years. wife of mine also adds plastic eyes and a nose she found at a fabric store in town up here looks pretty good too she sells them at her craft sales when she goes usually at Christmas or other special holidays...

Thank you for the hints! :) I don't think it's the fur that intimidates me as much as the animal. I've made them before, too, and they just get to the point they don't fit under the machine anymore. I'm making bears that my grandmother made for me and my brother and sisters, gosh, over 30 years ago! If all works well, I'll continue the tradition of a stuffed bear for all my nephews. My sisters, I know, will appreciate the memory! :)

well i do not think that i have a favorite material to work with i really like making fleecy blankets but i will work with any kind of material that i can get a needle through i agree cotton and fleece are very easy to work with i think that satin and silk is rather hard to work with because if you misplace your needle into the material it will show the needle hole after you pull the needle out and you can see where you made the mistake

I prefer cotton. I like the feel of it, and I find it's very easy to sew (and pretty forgiving if you make a mistake).
