I went to visit a friend early this morning, and dropped off a couple of cans of pressed dog food I collected from the shops. She phoned me a short while ago, in absolute hysterics, couldn't speak she was laughing so much.
Her boyfriend came home lunchtime to grab a bite to eat and mistook the open dog food for corned beef, slapped some of the dog food onto a slice of bread and ate it in a sandwich. All he said was that the meat tasted a bit salty, then he left to go back to work.
Now I'm crying with laughter too, and I am wondering what on earth would you say to her boyfriend. Would you tell him he's eaten dog food by mistake? I know I couldn't tell, could you?

Same here I would be laughing so hard on the inside but I don't think I could tell him. If I could get myself to tell him I might wait until a day he annoyed me or just make it for his dinner and after he eats it again tell him.

I laughed so hard at this I gave myself a stomachache--no he shouldn't be told but if he ever asks that the corned beef tasted funny just tell him it was a different brand of corned beef that was on sale and not the usual brand--LOL LOL

Oh MY god! lol! i think i would have to tell him!! i couldnt' keep myself from laughing when i looked at him! And that'd teach him to LOOK at the can before he opened it next time!! and i'd have to ask him.. "what next baby ?? should i leave the toilet lid up so you can get a drink in the middle of the night!?" lol!! OOoooOO i would have to tease him as much as i could.
Why didn't she tell him while he was in the process of making/eating the sandwich anywasy? or did she come home and find the empty can? oh my this is too funny!

Haha! Wow, that's so funny he didn't even realize it!! If I caught my husband about to eat dog food by mistake, I would definitely stop him before he took a bite, but I don't know what I'd do if he actually did eat some! Especially a whole sandwich! LOL I would tell him the truth, but it would be hard cause I'd feel so bad. Ick!

Ally has no plans to tell him anything at the moment, she can't stop laughing about it. I still can't believe he didn't realise his mistake

That's really funny! I'd rather that you don't tell me about it anymore (if I was the one who ate it) because I might just end up vomiting. We had an experience like that a few years back. I have a cousin who eats a lot and raids our refrigerator for midnight snack whenever he's in our house. He came to our house for a vacation and one fateful night (hehehe) he mistook our dog food for corned beef. It was inside a Tupperware so no one would really expect that it's dog food. He told us about it the next morning and we couldn't help laughing. Anyways, he wasn't nauseous about it and in fact said that it tasted quite good. He's a doctor so I guess that accounts to his not being too sensitive about it.

That is too funny. I guess I would tell him it only seems right, It's not like she made the sandwich for him. This is going to be a great story for years to come. I dont think he will live this one down anytime soon.

That reminds me of the time my aunt was visiting us. She phoned home to see what my uncle was having for dinner. He told her he had heated up a can of beef stew and it was pretty good for canned stew. Canned stew? says my aunt, We don't have any canned stew. He checked the label and only then realized he had eaten Alpo! So I guess the dogs eat pretty good! I would laugh at my hubby too and I would most definitely tell him, he would get a good laugh out of it.

It just proves that dogs do eat better than we do sometimes :-)

That's hysterical! Some things are better left unsaid. I wouldn't tell him. After all, if it's good enough for a pooch to eat, it's good enough for him. In other words, it won't hurt him, and, in this case, what he doesn't know won't hurt him.
I don't know about the UK, but here in the States it is not unheard of for poor people to eat dog food on a regular basis. At least I used to hear about that back in the day. Whether it's still a common practice, I couldn't say. Anyway, thanks for sharing your story; it put a smile on my face. Cheers!

Yup what he doesn't know certainly won't hurt him even if he can't understand the giggling going on :-)

o_o is he alright? rofl.
I think he deserves to know. but I'm not sure whether it will hurt him a lot to find out he just ate all that dog food :'] So I guess it's better if he didn't know and you kept it to yourself or else he might start acting weirdly and the psychological factor, knowing this, will get to him too. xD
If he wanted to know and asked when you laugh, you could just say it wasn't corned beef :P
... but gross..

Ha ha ha. That is a very funny experienced for him. I think you have to tell him later. After some days or months. But it is still food. I hope he will not bark.

Lol, that was really funny. But i have read somewhere here in mylot that she ate cat food because she was very hungry and had no choice. I think it wouldn't harm them at all. But that was just plain funny. If i were your friend, i would have told my bf and see what his reaction would be!
