I started in with a sore throat around 4pm today. It is not 11:40pm. It's still there and only getting worse. My throat feels all tight, especially when I swallow. I hope it is gone by morning. How do you soothe your throat when it is soar. I'm thinking of sipping some tea. Hopefully that will help.

i discovered this a long time ago you take a teaspoon of lemon and a teaspoon of honey mix it together and drink it, it makes your throat feel that much better and just keep repeating it whenever you need it

That is one of the ones I could not remember. I will keep that in mind. And I definitely need to buy some honey. I didn't realize I didn't have any. Thank you for reminding me of that!

There are some practising to soothe the sore throat:-1)wash your mouth with salt water and let the salt stay around the inner part of your tongue for a while.2)Orange juice or lime juice plus a pintch of salt.3)The effective one is the apple cider vinegar plus honey. You need to drink more water then ever and have a good rest!May God bless you!:)

I would think that things with a higher acidity would irritate the throat more. That's just my thought though. I'm not sure if that is actually the case.

I drink hot tea or take a hot shower and/or bath.
Hot lemon water with honey does wonders too.
Also if you put vicks on your throat and chest it usually helps it greatly.

I love vicks! I know some people do not like it but I love the smell of that stuff and the tingling sensation! haha Maybe I'm just weird. And I forgot to buy honey when I was at the grocery store earlier. Darn!

Make a tea with basil leaves and pepper, and then sweeten it with honey and add a dash of lime juice. Drink it hot.
You could also squeeze a whole lime into a glass, add an equal quantity of honey, and add warm water to it. This works wonders, even when you have fever.
You could also gargle with salt water, and if you have an antibacterial mouthwash, try gargling with that ONCE before you go to sleep.

I like the sounds of these. Easy and simple. They seem rather tasty and not gross like some "remedies". I will keep these in mind, thank you.

I've heard that honey and lemon tea is nice for sore throats. I however have not tried it. Gargling warm salt water and then spitting can really help too. It helps remove any drainage and helps soothe the irritation. Drinking cold fluids and eating popsicles and what not helps. At least it helps me. Some people suggest staying away from the cold items, but I prefer the cold items over warm.
