Has Planet Earth become 'a bad neighbourhood'?

Just thinking about all the social problems we allow to go on around us, the vast amounts of litter, the intolerance, the lack of care of older or vulnerable people living in our street and so on.
Many of us, if we were thinking of moving house would want to move to 'a good neighbourhood' where we felt secure and where our surroundings were pleasant. Are our collective actions (and lack of actions) making our planet 'a bad neighbourhood'? If so, how do we fix it?

lack of discipline and concern about our environment makes our planet a bad neighborhood. there's still light at the end of the tunnel, so i'm still positive that the next generation would be taught the basic, social, environmental awareness. let's recycle often. it won't take us an hour to sort our recyclables if we do it habitually everyday. there's still hope nancygibson.

well said, I'm sure there is hope. Its so depressing though when you look at the disregard and lack of respect shown by most people to the planet.
