First of all, don't buy one thing to begin your ebay business. Start going through everything in your home that you no longer use like DVDs, CDs, exercise equipment, gently used clothing, shoes, pocketbooks, jewelry. These are the items that you want to sell first before investing in anything else. You will need to take photos of each and every item you sell and download them onto your computer so that when you list each item, you can use the photo to help sell your product. You will also need packing and shipping products. I buy my padded envelopes at Walmart as they have the best prices and I ship everything directly from the post office first class only, with no insurance on most items. You can used old newspaper to wrap your items instead of purchasing bubble wrap. Don't forget to charge for shipping and handling so that you are also reimbursed for the cost of the envelopes. I've been selling on ebay for over three years now and I have made quite a bit of money doing it. If you get yourself organized you can do very well and with a good reputation, you can have repeat customers. Good luck!

The basic idea behind an ebay business is finding product cheap which you can turn around and sell for a fairly high profit. You can find stuff like that just by looking around in your house, most people have things laying around that they don't even know it would be worth anything. A second source are fleamarkets. For this you already have to ahve a basic concept about what is worth much. But one of the best and easiest sources are drop shippers. Drop shippers offer products at a really low price. Some drop shippers even give you description which you can just paste into ebay. If somebody buys the product from you, you just have to notify the drop shipper who will send the product to your customer under your name.

Have a look at my website and one of the very first articles I posted on it was how to make the most of selling on ebay. http://personal-wealth.blogspot.com/ Its not about any one kind of item, the article is about how to get details like descriptions and photos right to make the most money. You've already had good advice about starting with stuff you already haev, that will give you excellent practice in all of this before you think about a main product line.

I started out like most other people, just selling DVDs, CDs, old videos we had once we no longer had a VCR & stuff like that.
I have found the easiest thing to get started is to find sellers on eBay who offer wholesale lots - purchase those & resell as individual items, that is much easier!
Some things sell better than others - kids clothes are always a hit, especially the cute or name brand stuff! Try 2nd hand places, op shops, garage sale (yard sales) stuff like that & buy the things you think you'd buy for your own kids, then you can usually make 100% profit back on them, if you get them cheap enough.
Don't try & mark up too much or your items wont sell, of the items you are looking to sell - search eBay & see if there's something similar or identical & see how much they're going for or what they started at so you can get an idea on what to start your price at.
It's easy once you get started, just remember there is a listing price for everything as well as a final value fee for every item you sell (it's a percentage of the total amount the item sells for). It's usually not too bad, just make sure you can afford the monthly eBay bills or they will suspend your account. Paypal is a good option for payment too but again, they take a % of the amount that goes in to your paypal account.
Good luck & remember to start small so you can build up, get a good reputation & then you can continue to grow!

It very easy I started out selling my old DVD's and cd's because I did not have a digitial camera or a scanner. For DVD's,CD's and books all you have to do is enter the title and select the UPC code and the picture and description iss on the site. I love Ebay I am addicted like I am becoming addicted to mylot its cheap to sell on Ebay. Do not waste money on buying guides or books on how to sell and dont rush to open a store on ebay unless you are plan on selling a large quanity of items. Be careful with the dropshipment companies BEWARE of dboba.com they are a very expensive dropshipment company they get you try a free trial for a week. Their prices are expensive you can literally find things on Ebay cheaper than their wholesale price that is how expensive they are and it is hard to cancel your trial membership. I love Ebay because you can do almost everything from home. Its great!!

Dear goffclan4
I have made one friend in Germany through Ebay .. she used to put up my listings in her store and when something sells -- she lets me know .. and when atleast 4 - 5 items sell -- then she mails me and ask for invoice and I used to send her the items... it's like a drop shipper thingie.. and in this way u don't have to buy the item. She mainly purchases Salwar Kameez and get it stitched through me and sell it on a quite higher rate .. and I used to combine shipping so she saves on shipping as well.
