What is the one thing you are glad that you didn't inherit from your parent/s?

I am so glad that I didn't inherit my mother's horrible idea of decorating. Let me explain. She had apparently misunderstood the meaning of decorative paper towels, she will place these on her tables/endtables as doilies. Another thing she does is she has an outdoor table that sits on her porch you know with the plastic chairs or whatever they are, anyway she puts little knick nacks on this table things that dont even go together. She puts so much on it that, I took a friend there one time and as we approached the porch they looked at me and said,'Are they having a yard sale?' It was hysterical. So with all of that being said, what are you glad that you didn't inherit?

That is so funny!!! You made me laugh-thanks =) I don't know what I am thankful that I didn't inherit though, probably my mom's carefree attitiude. She has these short shorts that she will wear EVERYWHERE. My mom is 46, she doesn't have the body to be wearing short shorts, but she doesn't care, she is comfortable so she wears whatever she wants!! There are times I won't go out with her because of those shorts!!!

I can also relate, my mother at one point in time went through one of those episodes. She dressed so provocative that I didn't want to be seen with her. thanks.

I'm glad I didn't inherit my mother's chest size. She doesn't have much in that department, and as such i'm much happier with my father's massive hairy manboobs... Seriously though.. i'm glad I didn't inherit my entire family's proclivity to smoke. It's fine for them, despite the ya know.. deadliness, but I never understood why someone would want to stick a flammable object in their mouth and set it on fire.

oh. well, i guess you have a cool mom. just that you don't like her style. hehe. anyway, i am glad that i did not inherit dad's love for smoking. he will never stop smoking even if we all asked him to. noone else in the family smokes.. just dad. so,i am glad that i am a smoke-free person. happy myLotting!

Hahahahahahhahahahaahha! OMG that is really efing funny. Your mother is hilarious. Well, no offence to my mother because i love her dearly, but i am SO glad i didn't inherit her nose. It's a little on the larger side for a woman, though not too big...but it has a little bump in the bridge. Don't get me wrong, she is not an ugly woman. i just don't like her nose. i'm glad i didn't inherit my father's nose, either! He has quite a large nose. Somehow, i ended up with a fairly small nose, though in pictures it doesn't look small. lol

thanks xfallenxlostx, i am very happy for you, if their noses were really that bad then someone was on your side. i'm sure it probably doesn't look that way to others in your pics, you may just be focused on it.

Oh my gosh, that is so funny, my ex MIL does the same thing with paper towels. I love the lady dearly, but I am glad she is not my mother. I thought she was the only one who did that! Now what I am glad that I didn't inherit was my mother's sense of clothing style. She would wear these horrible crochet caps, and polyester pants and jackets. Yuck! I am also glad I didn't get her hair, she was Italian, so she had a thick head of bushy hair that she had to keep short or else it would grow out and look like an afro. Instead I inherited my dad's fine, silky hair. From my dad, I am glad I didn't inherit his tendency to make promises he can't or won't keep.

Thanks for the chuckle! I'm glad I didn't inherit my mother's habit of constantly twiddling her thumbs around in circles. This drives me nuts to see her do it. It's like a nervous habit and she can't sit without doing it.

That's funny! I'm glad I didn't get my mom's sense of cooking for potluck dinners. All those school banquets where people bring fried chicken, potato salad and other normal munchies? That's when my mom would get out her fancy cookbooks and try new recipies with really weird ingredients. Most of them tasted ok, but since nobody knew what they were, nobody ate them, and we ended up taking everything home. Of course, then we had to eat it for the next week.

LOL I'm glad you have a good sense of humor about it. My mom and grandmother both are real pack rats. They will save anything and everything, I swear. When my parents moved from Houston to Chicago, my sister and I helped "purge" a lot of stuff before the movers came. In one cabinet I found around 15 cleaned old pickle/mayo/whatever jars. Lids on, just sitting on a shelf, taking up a lot of space. I asked my mom why on earth she would collect so many jars and she said "In case I needed them". ROFL Who does that? I mean, maybe save one or something, but there were so many down there. My grandmother is sort of the same way. She has at least two of every small houseware appliance -- two coffeemakers, two toaster ovens, etc. And she only uses the older/crappier one. It's like she's saving the newer/better one for later. I don't get that -- Why not just sell the old crappy one, or donate it to the salvation army? This is a great thread. I'm sure we'll all get lots of laughs out of it :)

Sounds like my grandmother, she will yell at you if you use something she considers new. She has two can openers, so I used the better one which she has a cover on, needless to say I was told in no uncertain terms to use the old and save the new one. I agree it makes no sense. Thanks:)

Ok, that was just too funny. I am glad that I didn'y inherit by dads sexiest ways. When I was growing up the girls had to do all the housework as well as the yard work because my brothers had more important things to do such as play sports. The other thing I am glad I didn't inherit was the way my dad would spend money. He and my mom would get into arguments because my dad would have to have all the neat toys that came out on the market instead of paying the bills. When he pasted away he left my mom alot of debt.

Yea, that does sound sexist. Good thing you don't need all those neat toys or you would be in debt just the same. Sorry to hear that. Thanks.

My mom has a habbit of keeping old stuff; old clothes, old utensils, old school magazine, old notes.. I am not against on the collections that has sentimental value ie her love letters from my father, but keeping all clothes or old furniture just make me feel that my house is very stuffy. I like my house simple and clean, thus i am quite happy that i didn't inherit the collection habbit.

My father like betting. When he saw someone betting, he can not control himself anymore. Since that, he lost so much money. This brouht us so much trouble. i am now grown up and have a good job. i am so fortunate that i did not inherit that from him. I love my family, including my father. I wont behave like him. i will work harder and give my relatives a good live.

My parents travelled quite a bit on vacation - which was very nice as a kid... but they never left the country permanently. In that sense, I am the opposite... before I moved to LA, I lived in Sydney, Australia and Hamburg, Germany. I always enjoyed the different experiences and the adventure...let's see what might be next...

well that's a good question there .i think a inherited a lot of good things from my parents because they are honnest hard working people who ecucated me well and showed me the right path to follow in life .but, beside this i'm glad that i didn't inherited my father's nose .he has a real big nose so i feel real blessed that i escaped from this .surprisingly i inherited a lot of things from my mom ,of course she's more beautiful than my dad.it's difficult to determine how much things you inherit from your parents .

my mother always asks me to have a stable job,and work for a big company all of my life.I know her mean, but i want to live in my view. We often quarrel for this ,but at last ,i still do by myself.Do you have a stable job? is it necessary to work in a company,if i have a stable income?
