Would you be desperate enough to do it?

You are in debt. Your house is about to be foreclosed upon. You have bill collectors calling you constantly wanting money.
One day the phone rings. Your long lost uncle who you haven't seen since you were very Little is on his death bed. He is 95 years old. You have been told that in his will he has left you everything he owns. He is worth billions. You fly to be at his bedside. He smiles when he sees you and is happy you are there. You give him a hug. The doctors say with the respirator he could live for years. Or he could die any day. Without the respirator he would die almost instantly but would suffer from lack of oxygen. There is no one in the room but you and him. The respirator could accidentally come unhooked. He is awake and can see what you are doing. You are desperate for money. Would you unhook the respirator to get the money? He is old and going to die soon anyways. Would you do it?
I could not end a persons life no mater how desparate I was. I just couldn't do it.

My friend, you can't just kill your uncle (yea, I know it's hypothetical :P) for money. Having the strength to pull off the tube doesn't mean you should do it. Having the *power* doesn't mean you have to use the power. It just means it is there when you have it, but you need to use it judiciously.
In this case, we are talking about a life. And not only a life, but the life of someone close and dear to you, and who treats you so well to want to will billions of dollars to you. There is a thing called conscience. If you kick someone just to save a pathetic house, you are worse then pathetic. May devil summon you to the deepest dungeons of hell. (Oh sorry, I always get carried away. Yes I know it is hypothetical and that person is not you. :P)
There is an easy solution to your problem. Your uncle is always going to give you all his money. Surely if you tell him about your foreclosure situation, he would be more than willing to help. Just be honest and ask. There is no need to resort to any evil deed.

Oh yes, karma is one big thing that will always haunt the killer.

yup.. i agree with you....if you kill your uncle.. instead of settling of your debt.. you're actually putting in more debt(karma) .. and you might end up in jail.. not worth it also =)

I couldn't end anyones life no matter how desperate I was either but I would sit there and talk to him and tell him my situation/problem.

I wouldn't do it. I could not live with myself knowing that I killed an innocent human being. Regardless of how much debt I was in, I just would not do it. Killing him would only make the money dirty money, and well that's not how I want to acquire it.

Wow, you're asking for all the ugly, dishonesty in a person to come out. There is no way in the world I could look anyone in the eye and pull the plug on their machine. If the police don't get you for that, God will. You would be better off just explaining your desperate situation to your dieing uncle and see if he would be willing to help you out until you get on your feet. I don't see why he would say no if he already planned to give you everything after he was gone anyway. And if he did say no I guess you better sell anything you own that you no longer need, go find a shelter to live in, and do whatever you can for yourself just like you would before you found out about the uncle and the money.

i think i won't do such thing.. but.. i belive many desperate people might do it.. it's all based on our own principle.. if you think problems are to be solved in the correct manner. .and not using dirty way.. then you will definitely disagree to unhooke the respirator..he's already on his deathbed.. why do we want to kill a person? he deserve to live right.. unless he mistreated me.. then i might think twice before deciding anything.. if you've been mistreated by a person when you're young.. and he put his will so that he could repay you.. i have no doubt if you have the thinking of killing him.. depends on what type of abuse too.. =)

This sounds like the start of a novel, one I'd like to read!
No, I could not do it. I just couldn't.

No way!!! I could never do that to any other human being, no matter what the circumstances. One might pay their debts off with any money but they would live with the guilt conscience for the rest of their lives. I couldn't handle that, and I love and respect other human beings, as I hope they do me.
I don't think many people will respond to this question with a positive answer. We don't need to kill to survive. There is always a way out of a situation like this. After all, life always balances out the good with the bad.
Thank you for making me consider this. I'm sure it does happen in extreme cases, but anybody who actually does it, must be mentally disturbed, I would think.
Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Hmmm perhaps one could ease the plug out unnoticed with their foot...lol No just kidding, I could never do anything that would kill a person...even if they wanted me to. I would be happy to wait...now if I can just find someone rich to adopt me or at least put me in their will.

I could never end someones life. I think i could understand a persons desperation if they did do it though. But its a family member and i could never do that to my family let alone another person that i don't know. I am very happy as well that this isn't a true story. But then again just becasue we haven't heard something on the news doesn't mean this hasn't happened.

There is just no way that I could end someone's life no matter how desperate I was. I would allow them to foreclose on the house and go on with life.
Eventually you would have enough money in the end to pay off all your debts and get a bigger house if he really was leaving you with everything he had and he's worth billions.

Never, my concious would pray heavy on my mind and there's always a chance of getting proven or incriminated as the 'murderer' unfortunately in my country euthanasia is still illegal, which is another rant of mine because if you can put an animal out of its misery to stop the suffering, then why can't you do it to a human? I am pro-euthanasia, but even in this situation I wouldn't do it, the temptation would be there but whether I could live with myself afterwards by dealing with the devil as it were is a different story not even a billion could satiate.

I agree with you. Nobody has the right to take another persons life no matter what the cause or how desperate that person is.

I thought it will only happen on soup drama.
The bad characters will always do that. Unhook the tube, get the money, spend it off like water, then broke again in a blink of eye.
No matter how desperate I'm, I won't do that too.

No way i could never do that. I mean really if someone did do that could they really live with guilt just to have money. Money is important but not enough to kill someone cause that is what you would be doing.
