When you are really down and blue or have had enough, what do you do to make you laugh? They say laughter is the best medicine.
As you know I've been going through a bad patch so I watched two programmes which are really special to me and make me laugh,The first is Malcolm in the Middle. I watched four episodes last night and it made me feel much better! I the love the antics of what the boys get up to and the father is just a big kid himself! This is one of the funniest programmes and most enjoyable.
The second is One Foot In The Grave (it's a UK programme) about a grumpy old man and it is so funny, I have tears running down my face watching it. I have watched the episodes time and time again and never get fed up with them.
So what tv programmes really make you laugh and is television the best medicine for laughter for you?

I think a television is a good choice. Because now days there are so many channels and so many comedy shows all day around. I know that when i am feeling a bit moody i like to look at the tv or download from the net, stand up shows of my favorite comedians, like Bette midler, martin short and many more, and after two minutes of seeing this my mood is already improving. Another thing that can help is going with my friends at the evening to the beach, they always succeed in cheering up the ones that feel moody, that day. the third thing that i do not recommend is to just put a banana on the sidewalk when you see the neighbor that stole your private parking place yesterday, and just watching him fell..Lol (Just kiddin).

I do agree, some tv is hilarious. My favourite are oldies like The Royal Family or Gimme Gimme or going way back, on the buses (not that I remember the originals mind you) Two pints of larger is funny but anything with Peter Kaye. I love his live from.. videos and I can watch them every time with tears of laughter running down my face! Definately a tonic to pick you up!

Gimme Gimme Gimme was great but only because of Linda I couldn't stand Tom he got on my wick. On The Buses, wooohooo Stephen Lewis was great as the Inspector, 'I'll get you Butler!' classic. I also love George and Mildred. 'Georrrrrrrrrge' 'Er sorry Mildred I've got a headache tonight' 'What again, you had one last night, and the night before...'

I don't see many Malcolm in the middle episodes Wolfie. if i could find them , i would watch them though. The shows i watch are "who's line is it anyway" Which usually makes me laugh a lot. I love Ryan stiles and Colin mokery. They make a great team. I also like to watch old sitcoms like "Threes company" I usually laugh when i watch that. I love to laugh and have fun. I think you should do more laughing. I could tickle you, would that help??? LOL *still waiting on my dance :)

I know this sounds really sad but 2 pints always makes me laugh as does Will and Grace, Scrubs and Emmerdale! I know Emmerdale isn't a comedy but hey it works for me! I am glad you were able to laugh honey - I am worried about you as are many others - just remember we are here if you need us! xx

We've touched on this before I think. Malcolm in the middle is one of my favourites too.
I like watching outdoors'y type programmes and nature things, so I most often watch UK History (although it's rare I get the chance!).
Two of the best things I've seen lately have been Born Survivor - Bear Grylls and a programme last night called The Human Footprint.

I love to laugh and when I am down I too will watch a funny television show, some of my favorites are America Funiest Home Videos and Whose Line Is It, both of these will make me laugh, no matter how many times I watch them.

Well, i don't know that television is necessarily the BEST medicine, but it is definitely a help! i also love Malcolm in the Middle. One of the best shows ever! i love how much trouble the boys cause and how Hal acs up just as much in his own way...and how Lois is such a wench! Bt in the end, they all love each other deeply and will do anythign for one another. Good, doog show. i also enjoy South Park and The SImpsons. i know, i know. Really low-class television, but it makes me laugh. i used to love a show called Titus that for some reason went off the iar. Now, the star (Christopher Titus) is on tour with his stand-up routines. He's quite funny.

I don't know if television is the best medium to provide laughter for me, as I hardly watch it anymore. But I find that The Simpsons and Blackadder always make me laugh no matter how many times I've seen them before.

Well, I used to watch comedy movies and soaps when I was in need of laughter. I used to watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S., Will & Grace, The Nanny and whole lot more. But now I don't watch TV much. So now, I'm more into funny messages, jokes. So I guess NO! Television is not the best medicine for laughter for me.

Usually when Im down - I think watching Family guy, simpsons or some other cartoon helps. It is good for taking my mind off things. But If i were really really down then I think I would have to play games or hang out with friends to be able to take my mind off things - sometimes, things on my mind can still get in the way of when I am trying to enjoy a good show - so it really depends.

For laughing the television is a source but not a good source. Bcoz some of the tv shows make us feel bad and we will gone to cry. It will be good for laughing only if we have a choice for seeing the tv shows. Otherwise that will make us feel that why we have seen this video. In my opinion the best way to laugh is with friends. If we spent some time everyday with our friends then that will make us laugh

I love Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, it has me in stitches and also Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. I saw him live in his 2nd stand up show, and I laughed so much I felt ill!!
I am really into Scrubs at the moment and the re-runs of Im Alan Partridge, especially the one where he has to do a presentation for Dantes Fires after piercing his foot on a railing and loosing a pint of blood, it is hysterical.
I am such a fan of Father Ted and I will watch these over and over. They always put them on Sunday nights on More4 and I always make sure I see them, even though I have them all on DVD. Have you seen the episode where he meets Richard Wilson and goes up to him and says "I don't believe it" and Richard Wilson attacks him. It is so funny, although every episode will definately lift my spirits. Its ashame they only got to make 3 series, they are all classics.

i guess to forget your troubles its a good thing to watch television. i can't think of anything that makes me laugh out loud anymore on tv. it used to be better. too many reality shows, and problems with people shows. What ever happened to the fun sitcoms, and shows without violence and troubles? Hard to find any of them anymore!xcept on tv land.

Hey there, Wolfie. I would have to agree about laughter. It is a great stress reliever. After a good laugh I tend to feel a little better. As for television viewing, yes, you can find yourself in a good mood after watching something comical on the tube. Ya know, I myself think that Malcolm in the Middle is really good. I think the father on the show does some of the funniest things! I also hear that watching the news, especially bad news on television can cause extra unneeded stress. So that is why that at a particular time of evening I will pop on a good comedy such as King of Queens starring Leah Remini just for a good laugh.
