If you get a cellphone call in public, do you ignore it or goto a private place?

I usually ignore it and just send him/her a text message to call back later. Cellphones obviously are the big, big thing. We use them anywhere and everywhere and sometimes we get rude. A kind of unconscious rudeness, as we are not aware of what we are doing. It is still proper to maintain at least a certain privacy in what we do. How about you? Do you just answer and let everyone hear what you are talking about?

It depends a lot on where I am. If I'm tied up with somebody, in the middle of a conversation or meeting, I'll ignore it and call back later. Not everybody wants to hear your call!
I live in a flat and have a downstairs neighbour. I have perfectly good reception in my flat, but he has a habit of standing outside his front door, or in his garden, making and taking his calls. His front door is directly under my window and he speaks loudly enough for me to hear every single call. I don't appreciate this, one little bit. So now, I close my windows when he's out there. I think it's all for show, but why can't he take and make his calls inside, like everybody else who can get reception?
Brightest Blessings.

Just like you say, it's for show. He just want you to know he has some friends that call him.

i hardly receive calls in oublic places unlessit is very urgent. in that case, i move to a recluse and talk softly and answer it. i depend on texting while on open.
i think, we should use cellphones judiciously. easy access doesn't mean it should intrude into our sanity without any right reason.
thanx.

well my phone doesnt work at my house because i live on a farm, so when im in town its the only time it works so i have to answer it because it would be important.
i dont speak to loud though, if i can sit in my car or something id prefer to do that.

It depends who is calling, before I answer it I used to take a look at who is calling and if it is not so important I did no answer it. But sometimes most of my calls are important coz I do believe most of my friends will not spend a load just for calling me and say hi, I know If they are calling me it is important coz If it is not important they just text me and not call me.

It depends upon a lot of factors like with whom you are sitting with and whose call is that? If im in a meeting or like that.. then i cut the phone call unless its of great importance person. If i get a call where i have to talk some thing personal then i get up and go over few feets away from everyone, so that i can talk freely.
As i said it depends upon a lot of factors , no hard and fast rules...

Doesn't a text message cost quite a bit? One can usually go outside or somewhere private if it is an emergency rather than run up a huge bill. And you do not have to shout either. You can talk quietly.

i will pick up and tell her it's not convenient for to talk with her now,and i will call her back later.firstly,i like talking with everyone in my phone wholeheartedly.so i think talk with her in my quiet room is better, and we can talk smoothly.in public,it's usually very noisy,i can't hear what she says and have to ask for pardoning,i think it isn't very polite and not very efficient either.secondly, just as you mentioned,i want our conversation be private.talking in the cellphone in public often causes many people's attention.some passerby may look at you if they hear something which is weird they think.for example,if you said i loved you to your girlfriend in the cellphone and heard by a passerby,he might unconsciously look back at you.especially in our country,it is not common to say out "i love u"in public.

I generally keep my cell phone on vibrate when I'm out in public, work, class, or having a conversation with someone. If it does vibrate because of an incoming call I will text the person back letting them know which situation that I am in and that I will call them back when the situation permits.
I don't like to hear other people's conversations while I'm out in public, especially when I am in a restaurant. I also hate when people are wearing their blue tooth ear piece and you can't see it because it is hidden by their hair and just all of sudden they say "Hey". They look at you like your stupid when you reply back hey.....sorry didn't see that you had an ear piece in lol.
I generally text 95 % of the time without disturbing anyone that I'm having a conversation, at work, or in class. Because I have texted so much since I have had a cell phone I can generally do it without looking at the phone.

Yeah, it's a good idea to have the cellphone vibrate. It keep the noise out. It's good to send a text message and cheaper. You just need to get used to it though.

I don't know why I even carry a cellphone sometimes - I can't even hear it inside my bag! People call and I simply don't answer it because I can't hear it LOL Only when I have to use it i.e make a call then i find a quiet place and make the call there. I wouldn't want everyone listening in on my conversations. Everytime I'm in with the doctors, movies etc I always make an effort to turn it off and sometimes I even forget to turn it back on! My hubby doesn't like that if he needs to get in touch with me urgently!
