2007 WORLD CUP FINAL..Who is going to be the champion?

Team sri lanka has come to final to play the current champion Australia on saturday.Sheer hardwork and dedication helped them to come to final.It appeared that they were not worried for anything other than their game.When they played against South Africa it was strange that they could concentrate their mind towards game because the previous day in their country the LTTE Bombed palley Airport and finished the amminities godown of their country.Sure they would have worried for this happening but hence they performed well.
On saturday if they want to win the game and lift the world cup, they must win the toss and choose to bat.They have to keep in mind what has happened to Indian team during the last world cup.
If jayasuriya was careful in selectio of shots nobody can stop him in scoring during power play.They should upset Aussies in score as they are in full form to face any team under tough circumstances.They are showing their best aspects of cricket in all forms.
Whatever said and done toss is going to play a vital role of the match.Even if Aussies wins the toss they will put Sri lankans to bat first i think.Luck and hard work will favour sri lanka in this time.
What do you think about my views? Whom do you think will lift this world cup trophy and why do you suggest them?

but that's because I'm Australian so I would naturally want them to win haha.
But if you are Sri Lanken then I guess you would be wanting your team to win.
Im considering it may be quite a tough one - I haven't kept much track of Sri Lanka so I am not sure what their chances will be - you will have to enlighten me on that. I have sort of kept track of Australia - mostly through what the media says and they have won all their games and thrashed number 2 south africa yesterday so they are definitely in top form for this tournament. I guess we will have to wait and see then.

Of course australia, because looking at previous record and current form australia definatly beat shrilank. although murli and jasurya is danger.

As you said, if Jayasuriya fires at the top of the order and takes the initiative away from the Aussies then Sri Lanka definitely have a chance. Besides, I think Sri Lanka have a more balanced bowling attack than the Australians because of Murali and other spinners while the Australians have had problems when they don't get wickets with the new ball.
I think if its a flat-batting pitch then both sides will look to bat first since it is not easy to bear the pressure of chasing a score, whether big or small, in a big match like World Cup final.

I wanted sri lanka to win but i never happened but atleast they reach the finals which was not an easy job too.
they are a great team and depends less on individualty.
but in finals there were circumtances where i think decissions went wrong.that is it wasnt a fair nice play even the rain made it tough and uneasy to play.

I want Sri Lanka to win this world cup. But looking at the current form of Australia i think they will be the won to take the shield. There are some good points to Sri Lanka, their captain has regained his form in his last match agains New Zealand. So he looks after the middle order. As you said, if Jayasuriya be selective in his shots then thats it, Sri Lankans can win this world cup. The other positive point for Sri Lanka is Tait. He gives many extra balls and is not consistant in his bowling. So they should be careful only against McGrath.
Well, my heart says that Sri Lanka will win the world Cup, but my mind says that it will be the Australians!

In my opinion there is no chance for Srilanka. Did you see the match between Australia and South Africa. How they bowled out the S.Arican's. Their main strenth is their bowling. I don't believe that Jayasurya or Jayawardhane can get a good score against the world's no. one bowling attack. I have no doublt Australia can win agaist Srilanka very comfortably today. They are very professional and very talented. Best of luck to Srilanka as our neighbouring country and I will pray for them definitely.
