When my little one was in daycare, for mothers day she made a framed poem. It takes 4 popsickle sticks or tounge depressors. Have the kids color the popsickle, either with paint or markers. You can print out a poem on card stock ahead of time, the one I have says...The sky is blue, the grass is green, your the best mom, I've ever seen. Then glue the sticks around to make a frame & put a small magnate on the back of it. I thought it was really cute. It still hangs on my fridge today. Good luck to you.

I am trying to remember if I did popcicle stick pic frames wiht this group of kids before. I have been doing this for 15 yrs and can't remember what I have already made with them. I will have to start writing it down.
Great poem~ thanks for sharing it.

Try bead necklaces! they are easy and my kids love to make them! If you get somebigger beads the littles can do it to.
Otherwise maybe just cards we make those to give to Grandma(s).
Or maybe you can make something with paint and their little handprints/footprints.
Hoep this helps!
Have fuN!

How about a basket with bubble stuff, I know I have always enjoyed those, or better yet why not make a basket full of cookies and brownies to give to her, I am sure the little kids can help out making the cookies with mother's supervison

plaster hand prints are always a good idea. You pour plaster of paris into a paper plate or saucer, let the kids put their hand into it to make a print, and write their name and age in the wet plaster. stick 2 small pieces of straws in to make holes to string a ribbon through then you let it wait one day and let them paint their hands. You can then take the plaster off the plate. To ensure it stays looking good, you spray uruthane them. thread a ribbon through the holes, and you are done. A cheap, easy remembrance for mom of when they were tiny children.

i love doing little crafts with my kids. my oldest hates that kind of stuff so that bits but i used to babysit and had about 9 kids counting mine at the time i only had two. that was one of the things the kids loved doing was crafts i had kids coming over just cuz i always did neat stuff with them. one year for mothers day we made little boxes for their moms. they loved it. it really didn't cost much cuz i always had paint, glitter, glue and all that on hand so all i had to get was the boxes and the are not much at all. if you go to walmart in the craft section they are little cardboard boxes in different shapes. we had heart shaped ones and the kids just loved making them. after they were all done i looked up mothers day poams off the computer and let the kids pick the one they liked and printed them on heart paper to fold and put in the box. the kids i had ranged from 1 to 12 and they all had a blast. if you don't want a big mess then the makers and glitter glue is great. have fun

Thank you! I think that you have just solved my problem. I know the exact boxes that you are thinking of at Walmart. I have tons of glitter and stuff already so the price won't be too high. I love the idea of printing a poem inside also~ yeah....problem solved:)

thank you for best response. my son just made one a little while ago for his tooth. he lost his first tooth and wanted to keep it so he wrote the tooth fairy a note asking her to leave it. i thought it would be neat to have him make one for his tooth and the note. normally he hates doing that stuff but he loved it this time cuz he got to keep his tooth. have fun

that is such a great idea. I might do that with all the day care kids later this summer too. I didn't even think about those little boxes, but once you get all the decorating stuff out, the kids will have a blast making them.

here is an idea for you. my kids did it for fathers day when they were about that age and we still have it. this is all you need to do it too
4 popicle sticks
small piece of construction paper
glue or glue stick
colors
a pic of the kid
use the sticks to make a frame glue the paper on the back of it let the kids color scrible etc on the paper then glue the small pic of the kid in the middle then you can write around the frame happy mothers day
now another one my kids did i think they were about 3 is this. you need
marker
finger paints
letter size or bigger poster board or you can use construction paper
and this poem
somestimes you get discouraged because i am so small
and always leave my finger prints on furniture and the walls
everyday i am growing up
and soon i will be so tall
that all those little hand prints
will be so far to recall
so here is a little hand print
just so you can say
this is how your fingers looked
on mothers day
now you use the marker and write the poem and then have the little ones put there hand prints in finger paint and put the print on the paper at the bottom.
i have that one hanging in my hallway. i love it my kids are 9 and 12 and i have one from them both. they will go over there at times and look at how big they have got to so it is something that we all love.
i hope one of these helped

I have made pic frames with kids before, but never with a background of const paper that they can draw on first. I love it!! Now I just have to remember if I have done pic frames for this set of parents yet as I have been in the daycare bus for many years!
I always loved the finger print poem too. I was thinking about using that for christmas this year and framing them for the parents too.

How about making bookmarks using small flowers, leaves and other natural things. Then you can put the things between 2 pieces of clear contact paper, punch a hole in the top and add some colorful yarn.

Another great idea. We have no flowers in bloom yet here, but I think that this would be a great craft to do with them this summer. I might even do it again wiht my new group of kids this fall and save them for christmas:)
