Do the things you have make you a better person?

Does the way you wear your hair make you a better berson? Do the clothes you wear make you a better friend? Does it determine your integrity? I wanna talk about that, because in a world where the beauty and values materials prevail, I would like to know where are the internal values! Do they still exist? Does the fact of having those things make you better than others? Come on! Let's discuss about that. =D

We do live in a very materialistic world these days. I do not believe that the outer shell of the person matters as much as what is on the inside. Values and morals are still important qualities to have. I don't wear makeup or expensive clothes, but I have a lot of respect from my peers because of how I treat them. I know that people like me for who I am, not how I appear on the outside. That's more important to me. Just because other people can affod to look like fashion plates does not mean they are good people. Look at the celebrities and what they are doing these days...Alec Baldwin going off on his daughter because she wasn't around for a phone call from him...Britney Spears going off the deep end...Paris Hilton drunk driving...the list goes on and on. Yes, by nature, attractive people attract people to them. That's just the way it is. However, true friendship is not made by how people look, it's made by how people treat each other. Morals and values still exist these days...it's all in how we were raised and how we raise our kids.

I love your response! That was exactly what I wanted to hear from people.. And you summarized everything perfectly! You knew how to express what people think about this discussion. I'm glad to know that still there are people who really care about morals and values! Already rated! Have a nice sunday, tnaber65. :)

I think that any-material-things can't make a person better than each other. What realy rules is the internal values, as you say. I'm with you! Clothes, hair, objects, and that fuc***' things don't make any person better. Each person is singular, by the way to speak, the education, the knowledge, and, principally, the[carĂ¡ter] -sorry, i dont know this in english.-. Great discussion, man. I loved this.

I think they can start you in a group, but later you will have to show your values to keep being accepted in the group. People can't hide themselves behind things all life long. If you're hidinig yourself one time or another you'll be revealed.
