Moving House - Love It or Hate It??

I'm currently thinking about selling my flat and am looking for a new place to live. This time it will probably be a house I think because I fancy having a nice little garden for my cat to play in. Anyway I mentioned to some friends earlier today that I was doing this and they all groaned and said they hated moving house - the upheaval, the stress, etc. Personally I love it! I think it's really exciting - if it wasn't for the practicalities of it all I'd do it more often. Anyway what do you think? Is it something you dread doing or would only do if you really had to? Or are you like me and enjoy change?

Moving house is so stressful I hate moving house. Getting used to living somewhere new it just isn't something I enjoy it is supposed to be one of the highest stressors.

I love mo ving houses o much. When I am planning my move I have so many hopes and aspirations and I believe my life really will change for the better. I think I will become this sylish, ultra organised, multi tasking, motivated person when the harsh reality is that I am never going to be this and in no way could a house move make me this person. But it is always what I plan for myself. I do quite like of being in charge of stuff so a house move is the perfect oppurtunity for me to shine. Lol. Good luck with the house move but I am sure that you odn't need it.

Oh I'm the same - I kid myself that a change of scene will somehow transform me into a different person lol! It never happens of course - no matter how hard I try I just lapse back into my usual bad habits.

i too hate moving house. I dont like to move my arranged item from one place to other. I always like to keep my things very neat and cute. And my house is a good place to accomodate all the nice things which i have. But sometime i would feel of having a bigger house with a big garden with a lots of plants and a small pool with boat to roam around. It has always been my dream house. I would shift only when i find a house like my dream house.

If you're content with the house you have at the moment then that's good. Personally I'm never really content with anything LOL!

I don't mind all the work that goes with it. It's the new environment bit I like.

Hi there, Their was a time where I got so sick of it,looking for a suitable house, packing, cleaning, moving, cleaning the new house, unpacking and setting up house, not that it was dirty, that was just a habit of mine to clean the new house over, and then 8 months later, the same things again cleaning, packing and so on... Now we have our own home, we're not going anywhere in a hurry...

Hi, yes I like to give a new house a thorough clean even if it's not dirty. I'm glad you have your own home now though. It sounds like you're settled.

Sounds good to me - why do something yourself if you can pay others to do it!

First ... I love your discussion title. I am right now picturing some lady wearing high heeled shoes moving house by picking it up off the ground, & walking down the street carrying a house on her right shoulder whistling a happy tune. It does depend on the reason for moving. It can be a bit stressful when you have a lot of belongings that need be moved. While I don't care much for it, if I am moving to a nicer place or a place that is closer to maybe my workplace, looking forwards to the travel time would be somewhat of a reliever of the stress.

LOL I love that idea! I have a lot of belongings but I won't be taking most of them with me - I just accumulate a lot of unneccessary rubbish and it's a good excuse to get rid of it all.

The idea actually started when my car inspection expired & I had forgotten about it. It was in a chatroom that I remembered it. "I can't drive it, so I'll have to carry the car to the mechanic for an inspection." The picture painted in someone's head about Jackie Chan doing that - walking down the street with a 'poor man's caddilac on his shoulder whisling a happy tune like nothing's wrong, picturing the looks on people's faces as they notice it.

Yes I love it - I know it involves a fair bit of organisation (which I'm not that good at!) but it's worth it I think. I just like a change of surroundings from time to time.

I hated and loved moving house, to much stress and make me tired, packing my stuff go into the new house do it over and over until finish all that's why i hated moving house. And i must decorate my new house, fiuh.. i can't imagine how busy i am but that's the part that i loved it. I like to do that, for my own house. But maybe if someone help me i will be like it LOL..
