Do you know anyone who has a gambling problem ? How has this affected the family ? Do you consider gambling to be a serious problem and why or why not ?
My uncle almost lost everything due to a gambling problem . He lost the family home that belonged to him and his sisters and almost lost his buisness . This was hard for the family to over come but they did .
How has gambling affected your family ? Do you have a gambling problem youself , and do you feel their should be stricter laws to prevent other's from getting this addiction ?

It is ironic that you would ask this question today as I just heard on the news that our state is considering adding gambling to many areas.
As far as my area goes, there is nowhere to gamble so it is not a problem unless they would go along way off to gamble..HUM??? I just thought of something, Is there gambling sites online??? I bet they are. If that is the case, it is hard to tell who has a problem and who dont. LOL
I personally have never gambled in my life and have no plans to do such

There are sites all over the internet . If you type in gambling you will come up with pages and pages of sites that are all dedicated to gambling .
Thank you for your response .

i guess gambling has always been a serious problem in every part of the world... even in Australia, it is a big problem too... people are in hugh debt and lost every possessions that they have just because of gambling... the problem is, once you are addicted to it, it is very hard for you to get away... it is always the same like smoking... and we can't really blame anybody because it comes from the individual's action who choose to gamble and spend their money... so those people have to be responsible for their own actions since they are already mature adults (i believe only 18+ people are allowed to enter the casino premises to gamble) instead of blaming the casino or the law...

In my city ther are so many casinos and it seems that people really enjoy a lot gambling there, for me is so stupid to go there and you are going to lose something for sure but people go there just because they are so used to doing so no matter if they lose money.

I dont know any one who has had a Gambling problem, But I have heard of people who have and had lost everything, I think that the casino's should have a limit of how much you are allowed to spend there a nite so that people arnt going in there and spending all of there money .

Hello, samtaylorskykierajen, gambling problem is very serious in australia as you can find different types of gambling here, the most popular one is the poker machines, you can find heaps of them along the pubs. Many aussies are obsessed with poker machines,it had been affected their families prety much as they always want to catch up with their loss and ask thier families for more money. It also leads to debt problem. I do not have gambling problem and I think stricter laws may not be able to prevent people from addiction,if someone really want to gamble ,no matter how strict the laws are, they will have ways to gamble anyway.

I don't really like to gamble. Im my own opinion, gambling is bad if you lose. Most will agree, if you don't believe me, do you want to bet on it? $100?

I don't know anyone who has a gambling problem. I think gambling can be a very serious problem if they are like your uncle and lose a lot or even some of their hard earned belongings. Losing things that you have worked so hard to get isn't worth gambling. I can imagine how hard it would be on the family. Because if he loses everything so do they. I don't think laws can really prevent the addiction. They don't really care because the government is getting some of the money.
