Your ALL TIME Favorite Online Sites.... (?)

... besides MyLot.
Can you share with me some of your really REALLY favorite online sites? Please also include details about the site so people who are interested will quickly know if they also want to take a look at the site as well.
I'm not talking about Money Making Sites (although, if there is one that really is a favorite of yours.. you are welcomed to share it but make sure you tell us WHAT makes it so great to you).. I'm really looking more for other types of sites that are unique or different or fun. Places that you like to spend your extra free time (when you're not here on MyLot).
I will answer first:
I have one other site that I'm quickly becoming addicted to.
* Postcrossing.com - World-wide Postcard Exchange Site. I LOVE this site and each day that I spend there, I'm becoming more and more attached. You sign up for free. Request to send a postcard and the site will generate a name and address for you (normally someone in another country). You send the card (including a special ID #). When the person gets the card, they register that ID number on the site to show that they received it. At that point, the site then automatically puts your name in the system to get a card from someone else. The cycle just keeps repeating itself. They also have a forum where you can do other types of card swaps/trades and other fun things. I LOVE going to my mailbox and seeing a beautiful card waiting for me from a stranger. I've received 45 cards so far and my son has received over 25. This is one of our favorites!
These are some other favorites:
* Oceangram.com - Fun site that allows you to put a virtual message in a bottle and then wait to see if anyone finds it and answers back to what you wrote. If you want to track your message (the only way you can see all of the people who reply) then make sure you keep track of your tracking numbers. I've sent some secrets or just put something that's been on my shoulders into one of the bottles and then let it 'go'. Lots of cool replies too. You can also wait for bottles to wash up on your beach (your main page) and then answer them and toss them back for the next person. Fun site when you need something mindless to do.
* HillbillyHousewife.com - Informative site on saving money and making your dollar stretch. Old fashion recipes that make me feel like I've gone back in time to the days of Little House on the Prairie! I like to read this site as a reminder to myself that I can make our money last if I really try! This site is famous for her $45 Emergency Menu.
* Netwinner - Easy, Free Lottery type game. You pick 9 numbers (or Quick Pick) .. the machine will tell you if any of your numbers matched and if they did, you win points which can be converted for Gift Cards. I like that there are also cash prizes and jackpots that you have a chance to win each time you play. Another mindless site that I like to spend some of my 'lazy' time on. If anyone wants a link, it's in my profile.
I know there are others, if I think of them - I'll come back and add them to a response.
So.. which sites are high on your surfing list?

*mrkent.com* It is an online typing practice and other things.
*instructables.com* A place that has instructions for just about anything.
*animalsnackables.com* A neat place for recipes for dog treats.

Those sound like some good sites. I will have to check them out sometime! I play on Netwinner a lot, too. I do it while I'm doing other things, so I don't feel like I'm just wasting time. :) I make it my goal to win at least $1.00 a day. Most days I easily make it, other days, well not at all. Most of the sites that I spend a lot of time offer money or giftcards or something. Or they are forums for free stuff.
Otherwise, I mostly just use yahoo and myspace. I guess I don't do anything too special.
I think I will check out the postcard site you mentioned. I have been sending letters to troops stationed overseas, and occassionally one will send me something back. I got a really cool postcard recently from one. It would be cool to get postcards more often.

First of all don't you worry about the person complaining that this post was too long. You hit it on the nose with your response. I personally like the longer discussions.
Okay, Ihave checked out the sites you listed and I am in love with Oceangram.com. I have sent a couple of bottles out and picked up quite a few also.
I am having to think about the Post card one. I like the idea of sending postcards to people and even receiving some but I am not sure if I really want my address being put out there so much. In the end I think I will join because it sounds like great fun. I am already a member of bookcrossing.com which they mention.
I am afraid that I just don't really have any fun sites like that that I visit regularly. this discussion has made me realize that I just don't use the internet for enjoyement very much.
One site that I really like is HGTV.com. I love going there to learn about unique ways to decorate my house.
I also enjoy going to Planet M&M (www.becomeanmm.com) and creating my own M&M's. It is a fun time waster.
Of course I love MyLot, eBay and Associated Content. Those three sites are where I spend most of my time online.
I still have to check out Netwinner and HillbillyHousewife. Thanks for sharing these with us.

Aww thank you sunny ♥
You listed some really great sites too. I never knew about bookcrossing, I'm going to have to check it out!
I also love HGTV and DIY.com - both great sites.
I wanted to tell you that on Postcrossing, I have never heard of anyone getting an address for someone in their own country - if that helps to ease your mind. Of course there are always risks in everything we do but it made me feel a little better knowing my address wasn't being given away to someone in the same state or even the same country as I am in. Now that I've been doing it for a little while, I almost wish I could get some cards from out of state. I've seen some of the ones that other people (out of the country) have posted on the site of places here in the U.S. and they are beautiful cards.
Anyhow, I love that site and it's addicting because I can't wait to see who I'm going to send a card to next and then trying to match up a card I have with the person's interests. Plus waiting for a new card to show up from some distant land. It's just so much fun and I've just started getting into specific 'tags' on the site - like for example someone starts a discussion on a type of card (i.e. "weird" cards) and then someone tags them meaning they will send that person a 'weird' card. Then the next person that comes in can tag that last person and send them a weird card and so on and so on. Everyone ends up with a card because when the discussion starts to die down, the first person closes it and sends a card to the last person. It's pretty cool and you can join any type of "tag" you want depending on the type of postcard you want.
You should check it out and make sure you read or at least look around their forum. Lots of pretty postcard pictures.

Deepak - I hope you do go to postcrossing.com and take part! There are alot of people from India on that site. I have not received a card from there yet but I hope I do one day.
My son and I both received really nice postcards from China this week. I got one with a picture of their airport and my son got a really cool card that has a craft he can do on the front to make a chinese architecture model. He really liked it plus they wrote a greeting in their language for him as well.
If you go to the site and at the top it says "STATS" you can see it broken down my country as to how many people from each part of the world are taking part on this site. It's really a very great idea. The man who created the site is from Portugal but the site has the most members from Finland.
Please let me know if you join and what you think of it. It's completely free except the cost of the postcard you buy on your own and the postage to send it. I need to find some stores in my area that sell postcards because I'm running out.
Ohh and alot of people handmake their postcards which is really neat too. I've made a couple and they turned out pretty nice. I've also received a couple of handmade cards from some children that I just love.

Thanks very much for detailed reply. I have got myself registered in the site Postcrossing.com. Now I can send a post card, I think. But two questions are coming in my mind. (i) How would somebody send me a Post Card. Shall I need to start first by sending a Post Card.
(ii) If I want so send you a Post Card, how can I send it to you...I would love to send you a hand-writeen Post Card, provided I have your address.
Pl. advice.
