I'm a common nail biter. I usually bite nails weather they're bigger or small, I don't care what the size is I juts go ahead. Sometimes, I bite my nails without even knowing myself and get to know about it later.
I think it's my habit so I don't know what much to say, I see many people around me who also keep biting their nails to death i.e. until they get shorter?Do you bite your nails? Is it your habit? Are you biting them from or since your childhood?

sometimes i bite my nails, the habit of biting nails is during periods of stress , boredom, hunger or nervousness. This is also a sign of emotional or mental disorder. but be careful in biting your nails coz theres a result of the transportation of germs. if tools used such as nail files used in differents people, these tools may spread nail fungi or viruses and have the ability to live inside your nail and because of biting your nails can potentially cause health issues.

there is really a need to stop the nail biting habit then. it will never be good to be ingesting all those bacteria and viruses lodged therein. knowing that those are potential causes of some types of diseases and illnesses alone is supposedly reason enough to stop the habit.

Nail bitting is a bad habbit. But it is very common among everyone. To some extent I think everyone has this habbit. Actually Nail biting can cause infection to pass into body. I too developed this very frequent while in school but my parents always discouraged me and made me know what the harm it can cause. I have now left the habit but it sometimes till happens that unknowingly I do the same.

When I was a child I bit my nails. I am not sure as to why I did it either, cause as I grew into an adult the habit became less and less, and now I don't do it anymore. I'm guessing that cutting my nails real short so there was nothing left to bite on stopped me of the habit.
Plus I can't bite through acrylic nails. I probably could if I tried, bite I believe my teeth would end up hurting first before I got through the first one.

I'm a terrible nail biter and have been doing it since I was a little boy. I guess I must have picked it up from my Dad as he has always been a big nail biter as well. I bite and spit out the nails, an absolutely gross and disgusting habit, I know.

I used to at one point but now I regularly file them and I find that to be the remedy to nail biting, along with being busy on Mylot and engaging in lots of activities. I don't give myself time to vegetate at all. My Sister used to bite them to the core and it never looked very nice, but she also has stopped ti so we both have decent hands and nails now. I am trying my best not to have any nervous habits if I can help it.

I'm happy that you quit that thing cuz it's quite bad for our health as I heared. My little sister, does that thing too often, too. I think she picked up that habit from me. I tried stopping this thing and made atleast 3 weeks without nail biting but oh... the pain of these days was short lived and I started again. :)

Nailbiting is a tough habit.... no.. it is an obsession.. no, it is a form of self harm... well... perhaps all of the above.. I think I'm like most people in that I like doing it so much, that I'm not really motivated to quit. I did quit for a few years, and here's how:
The trick is to sequentially stop biting one nail at a time. Start with the nail that you bite least. I notice that the nails on my ring fingers grow fastest (is it just me?). Every few days exclude one more nail. If you catch yourself biting one of the nails you've excluded, just bite a different one. There's one more critical piece, and that's the nail clipper. If you've been biting your nails for a while, you probably haven't been clipping or filing them. Starting to clip and file again really helps give your nails that smooth, rounded edge which you'll be less likely to bite into. Another trick that I have heard of is to paint your nails. Some people say they'll bite their nails even when they're painted,.

I have been biting my nails for as far back as I can remember! It's a horrible habit that I haven't been able to break. I'm always ashamed of my nails and would love to let them grow out some but I've never been able to. I love to read and find myself biting my nails without even knowing I am doing it, especially when reading! I've actually bit them down to the skin and have even made them sore and/or bleed, but didn't notice until it was to late. :( I'm hoping that my boys don't get this habit from me! My husband doesn't do it, so I am hoping they learn not to from him!

no, i do not bite my nails. my mother has told me why it is a bad thing to be biting one's fingernails. see how much you destroy them if you keep on biting them. have mercy on those nails, they are meant to give protection to the fingers.

I use to bite my nails a lot when I was little. Now I only bite them sometimes, like when I'm nervous or worried. I try not to bite them as much because they look so much better when I don't bite them.

I'm also a common nail biter.I usually bite nails when i am thinking about something. I didnt know I had such a bad habit till my bf told me. All of my friends think that is not a healthy behavior. But I dont want to give up it. I think it will affect my thinking if I dont bite my nails. Like some writers have to smoke if they want to keep thinking, and I must bite my nails.
But if an adult friend of mine bites nails in front of me , I maybe feel very strange. But I dont let him or her give up the habit. This is his or her freedom, I think.

I bite my nails. I can still remember the first time I did it - I was seven years old, sitting on my parents' couch. I remember consciously deciding to try it. Twenty-two years later I'm still doing it and my nails are in terrible shape. I've tried getting fake nails put on, and that works for a while, even after I get them removed, but then something stressful happens and I start biting again. I figure it's my worst vice, though, so I'm doing pretty well.

I do. I am a habitual nail biter, it used to be a nervous habit when I was much younger, but I realise now that nail biting is something very much within my conscious control, and I am able, with some willpower, to force myself to stop nail biting. But it is a lazy way of keeping my nails short without use a nail clipper!

I do not bite my nails but I have a friend who does before. We were friends since elementary. When I learned that he has the habit I tried to stop him before. At first it did not work. One time he was sleeping on their couch and he was biting his nails, when I had the chance I applied some extract juice of the bell pepper... so when he tried to bite his nails again, he shouted for he felt something burning on his lips... after that he is so afraid now to bite his nails... it worked!!
