The saying it always happens to someone else. I wonder how true it is. Have you ever met the following people, not necessarily your friends, but have you actually met them. For instance at a party, your next door neighbor, work colleague, school, college or university.
Murderer
Thief
Spouse Cheater
Con artist
Someone in jail
A spy (FBI, MI5) that would be telling
Rapist
Bank robber
A Famous person, moviestar,singer,writer....
Murderer; My husband and I met a couple years ago, when we went sailing, a long story for another discussion. Two years after we have met them and shared 28 days with them, he murdered his wife, and then hanged himself.
Thief; A neighbor of ours, worked in the bank, and stole lots of money out of peoples accounts.
Spouse cheater; One of my best friends, husband (that was an easy one)
Con artist; nope
Someone in jail; nope
A spy; nope
Rapist; Yes a man that had a Tobacco shop, my husband bought his tobacco there for years, and always use to chat to the slime ball.
Bank robber; The closest I got to a bank robber, I was in the bank when it got robbed.
A Famous person; The President of South-Africa 1994, in the Apartheids era. He was my lawyer.
Now your turn.
Honesty is the name of the game.

Hi there i have two categories here...
SPOUSE CHEATER:
Yes. I had a female friend who had some affair while she is married, I also know a married male friend who had a relationship like that 2 but they both have their own circumstances and reasons for it, and ( I ain't saying they are right or wrong here but merely answering your question).
FAMOUS PERSON:
1) Muhammed Ali, when i was still in first or second grade i think Muhammed Ali (the boxer) visited our school, i guess i saw him from a distance.
2) Bruno Kreisky, in the 70's and the early 80's he was a Chancellor of Austria, i saw him accidently in the Vienna's downtown, there is a huge street there called Kartner Strasse, he was a just a few meters away from me. Since your hubby is dutch, he must have heard the name before.
3) Rafsanjani, former iranian president, before i joined this place where i'm working now, i used 2 work in a lacal manufacturing facility during the 90's ( NOT nuclear for sure :D ) he visited our country and he passed by where i work, he was accompanied by our chairman and VIP's and took a quick tour through the facility, we shook hands.
4) Anniedup, I met her online, she is the Nr.1 and the very best myLot participant of all times :D
Thank you for the interesting disucssion

Okay, let's see...
Murderer- Yes, my college roomate's best friend's boyfriend. He was attending the same college as us and we had him over to our house a few times. Over Thanksgiving break his sophmore year (our senior year) he stabbed his sister at their house and then set the house on fire to cover it up (his mom and grandmother were still in the house sleeping, but got out). It took a year for the police to build a case against him, since he lied his butt off about what happened, but he was eventually arrested and confessed at the trial.
Thief- Several of my friends went through a shop-lifting phase in high school, does that count?
Spouse Cheater- Yes, I've worked with a few in the past.
Con artist- not that I know of, but maybe they were just really good at covering it.
Someone in jail- Other than the murder from the first question, I have a couple of friends who have been arrested for DUI and spent the night in jail, but no one else sentenced to jail.
spy- no (not that I know of, but that's their job, right?) I've known people who worked for the FBI and CIA, because I grew up near DC, but they weren't really spys.
Rapist- no
Bank robber-no
Famous Person- I literally ran into Clint Black (country singer) when I was working backstage at a Jimmy Buffet concert. He was running to the stage because he was late for a duet and came around the corner and bumped into me. He did apologize over his shoulder as he continued to run to the stage.

Interesting discussion...so here goes..
1. Murderer: The Green River Killer ( Gary Ridgeway) was a customer of the pharmacy I used to work at. I had conversations with him. He killed over 30 women. He offered me a ride home when my car wouldn't start. I was shocked when they arrested him and to this day it sickens me.
2. Thief: A co worker that stole money and merchandise and told us all she had cancer. We cooked meals for her and paid her bills because we believed she was in treatment. It was all a lie. She was prosecuted.
3. Spouse cheater: Best friend's husband with other good friend...bad story
4. Con Artist: Friend's sister used her children and would prey upon the elderly pretending to have a sick child and needing money..when they would let her in their homes she would steal jewelry and other things...sick woman, She was prosecuted.
5. I visited a jail for a volunteer project and met a few inmates in the women's section.
6. Spy: Nope
7. Rapist: Aside from the Green River Killer mentioned above I knew a man that I found our later had raped his neighbor's wife. He was prosecuted.
8. Bank Robber: Internal one...my mom worked in the bank and her co worker that we knew very well embezzled...does that count?
9. Famous person: I got to spend several days on the set of Superman Returns in Australia..I got to meet Brandon Routh ( Superman) and he hugged me in his full outfit and autographed a photo. Also met Brian Singer the director. Billy Crystal opened a door for me in Manhattan and told me he liked me hat. Dale Chihuly ( glass creator) had a long conversation with me about how he picked the colors for certain pieces he creates while we shared a dinner at private event.

Right now what I can think of for sure is that I lived next door to a man who ended up murdering his wife. Shudder, they used to babysit my little boy.
I have known several people who cheated on their spouses, including my former sister in law.Thief, another neighbor, rented the house of the murderer. He would break into abandoned farm houses and steal antiques and antique fixtures. He was scary, he also did not like the repairs someone did on his truck, so he torched their truck.Spy, no, rapist, no, childmolester, yes, a relative(I added that one). I sang on stage with Miss Jackie, a children's songwriter/educator, I was at a National Association for Educators of Young Children, and was chosen to participate in a song. My claim to fame.

Wow my friend, you must still have nightmares, about the fact that such an evil person looked after your son, but that just shows you someone "else" watched over your little boy.
I know you are very intelligent, and I know you care about children in such a fantastic way. The red cloth comes to mind in one of your discussions, but I didn't know that you could sing! I know I noticed that the cheater was very common. Now if you count a shoplifter as a theif I've met a few of those, including my ex-brother-in-law, yeah he wasn't the greatest person to add to the family.
Meeting Johnny Cash was incredible. He was one of a kind. I did get to meet Charlie Pride after a concert, wasn't sure if you'd know who he was. I also got to meet Maureen McGovern, another most might not know, after her concert at EPOC of all places.

Johnny Cash now there is a blast from the past! I still want to watch the movie they made about his life.
Thank you for responding and enjoy reading this "crime novel" ha! ha! he! he!

Hey this is like a life's experience tick sheet. How interesting has your life been sort of quiz, good one.
So to answer:
Murderer - No, not that I was aware of!
Thief - Most likely but not a convicted thief.
Spouse Cheater - Yes, that's pretty common.
Con artist - Is that the same as a manipulator, in which case I'd say yes.
Someone in Jail - yes, but it was a remand center, does that count? Was the brother of an ex-boyfriend.
A spy - No, but that would be a twisted encounter. You'd be speaking to someone who was not telling the truth!
A rapist - no thank goodness.
A bank robber - No, and I used to work in one. I was on a trauma team and was called out to another branch to help the staff who were involved in a robbery. That would be kind of defacto, but not the same.
A famous person - a few up there politicians, some almost stars, mainly TV shows, but no-one at the top of the pyramid.

Ohh yeah, I just remembered. Someone famous and infamous. The original lead singer of AC/DC Bon Scott. Back in the late 70's when I was in high school and they were just a new band touring the country. It was a Friday, after school I went to a local cafe where we would get chips (french fries) and hang out. AC/DC were to play in our town that night. They turned up at the Cafe and sat with us. They were so young and gregarious, and I was so young and ???? AC/DC were a bit before their time, radical louts, and quite frankly I didn't like them much. At the time they were the equivalent of punk rockers were when they first started - totally too far out there.
Anyway Bon Scott asked me if I'd like to kiss him! HAHA, I'm laughing heaps at the moment, imagine that. With an attitude like that Bon Scott knew his band was going places. I think I gave him that 'you've got to be kidding' look and of course declined. But I met him and Angus and I believe we shared chips. The question is should I have kissed Bon Scott? NAAAA! LOL.

Annie, I love this discussion!
Murderer- Yes, he murdered his wife and a priest. He went nine days without food and drank only. He had a lot built up anger towards his wife. They had two toddlers and she neglected the children. She would leave them in the middle of the street to get hoping they would be run over. I do not know, but she may have been suffering from depression after pregnancy. There is a special name for that. I don't know because he never mentioned that. One day he came home and found his wife and their priest was visiting. He shot them both. Doubleday offered to write his book for him and he refused.

I have not talked to him in quite a few years. I believe he had to life sentences. The last time I talked to him the two children were teenagers, but growing up too fast. If you know what I mean. The children would be adults by now. After this happened his uncle offered him money to flee to Italy to escape going to prison but he refused it and said he had to pay for what he did. I am not sure how much time he has left. He may be out by now. I lost touch with him.

Thief- Yes, I knew a thief. He went to prison and later returned to society and led a normal life.
Spouse Cheater- Yes, I met a man who was a spouse cheater. He cheated on his wife who was gay. They had two children and afterward they divorced and she moved in with her gay lover and her two children. He ended up friends with his ex-wife.
Con Artist- Yes, and everything he told me seemed to be lies.
Someone in jail- Yes, and in spite of everything he was a very intelligent man. I learned a lot from him.
Spy- I never met a spy but the woman who was married to the bank robber divorced him and married a spy.
Rapist- Yes and he thought there was nothing wrong with it. He thought it was normal.
Bank Robber- I came in contact with a bank robber. We spoke on the phone. He wore a wig and made himself look like a woman to rob banks. He really did not seem sorry for what he did. He was very intelligent so I could never understand why he would resort to that. He loved his daughter very much. That was the only bright light I could see in him...his love for his daughter.
A famous person- I met Larry King at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I was standing in the lobby with my mom and I walked past him while my mom was standing about 3 feet away from him. When I walked by I thought to myself that can't be Larry King. I came back and there he was and it really was him. I went over to my mom and I said that is Larry King. She said I thought so. I went over and stood never to him and my mom came over. His wife, and I guess...body guard came and my mom asked them if she could take a picture and they said yes. I never thought to ask for an autograph.

Oh my dear friend, this looks like a novel!
I feel so sorry for that poor man, and he showed alot of character to refuse an offer like, what you responded on the other one. You should try and see what happened to him.
How ironic that the bank robber's wife ended up with marrying a spy! lol lol This is sooo funny
Alot of men believe a women's NO means YES and therefore don't acknowledge the fact that when they force them on women that it is rape. We don't live in the stone and cave period anymore, where they can just hit us over the head and drag us off to their cave.
I love Larry King to bits, did you see they are having such a nice commemorating week, to celebrate his 50 years as the host of "Larry King Live" on CNN. 50 Years can you believe! How nice of him, to let your mom take a picture, now I've got even more respect for him.
Almost all the responses here are interesting but yours is helluva interesting! Thanks my friend!
