Should the price for medication for people that are dying be lowered ?

All around the world people are dying from Cancer , Aids and many different diseases . The more serious the disease is the more expensive the medication is . If you go to the hospital and only have something minor with you the medication is much cheaper . Why is this that when you are in more dire need of something the price get raised where only those who make a lot of money can afford the price ? Is not all life important ?

WORLD..........this seems to be a single word. But right inside is it we can find the collection of various things. Things like different creatures and commodities. Every thing in this world has taken up some sort of system to work. People have good health or bad health. Its true that more serious is the disease, the more costlier is the cure. The higher you go the more you suffer. But dont forget that there are various other government and non government bodies working to solve the problem for the poor. We cant change the past but can definitely change the future. Prices of medication depends upon the technology used to make them. One cant compromise in it. Its the truth that all have to accept.

I think its very unfair that they make those medicines so expensive, but it will always be that way. I believe the insurances should cover it all 100% so that they don't have a copay or have to totally pay. That too will probably never happen, but it would be nice, because I see my grandmother struggling to pay for her medications and she is pretty well off and doesn't have cancer or anything like that. So I can only imagine the costs to those that do have those diseases. It's heartbreaking to think that people have to suffer because they can't afford medications no matter how expensive or inexpensive there are lots of people that are going without and I think there need's to be a better way. No one should have to suffer needlessly or die because they couldnt afford the medicines they needed.

Here all people living in sweden has an medical-insurance that we all are included in weather we work or not. The money comes from the taxes that we pay. This means that in a year, our medicins will never be higher than about $250 dolalrs. once you have paid medicines to this worth you will get free medicine for the remaining of the year. I think this system is good.

I agree with you that medicines should be made affordable especially for those considered as dreaded diseases. However, I here that there are already people or countries specifically manufacturing much cheaper medicines such as India that gives hopes to those people who are afflicted with such diseases. Though there are still issues that some big pharmaceutical companies are raising, the said medicines are equally as effective. I just hope that it would be made available to the whole world soon.

I do not know how much the hospitals and pharmacies are earning from these medicines. I do not know too how much conscience these people behind the scene have. However, what I do know is that these people are dying. It seems unethical and sinful to cheat dying people of their money. This said, I do appreciate that they are providing a service by bringing the medicine to these people. There is nothing wrong with earning a profit since without a profit, they would go out of business soon. However, I just hope that they will make the profit margin as slim as possible. Perhaps, they can even use profits from other medicines to subsidy these medicine for the dying. I am not on the ground and I cannot see the big picture as they are seeing it. I do hope that they have some conscience left. PS.: Some medicine are naturally expensive because of a myriad of factors - even at cost price.

I do wish that medications could be more affordable for those that need it. Part of the problem is that companies have to make money on the medications so that they are able to research to make different kinds of medication. Research is very expensive to do. There are some companies that do give medication to those who can't afford to pay for it or atleast they discount the cost. While it would be nice for medication and health care to be more affordable I don't see that happening for us in the near future. My favorite doctor had to leave the medical field this year because for the third year in a row he didn't make enough money to even pay for his malpractice insurance. He was a wonderful doctor who donated alot of his time to the poor and needy. It was a great loss.

i can't agree more with you sam... it is so unfair to those terminally ill people that they can't have the proper treatment because they can't afford the price of the medicine... that is what i had been scared as well because i am not a rich person and i live on a tight budget... so i always ask God to protect me and give me good health... i believe all people have the right to live and something has to be done to the price of those medicines so that those terminally ill people also have the right to live... this is a very good discussion and thanks for bringing this topic up...

I think your right and people who are dying should be getting their medicine free or almost free. I found out just how expensive medicine was when my I didnt have insurance for awhile. Luckly I found a pharmacy where the medicine Im taking is so much cheaper and I can afford it even without insurance. And thats a good feeling. I will be back on insurance real soon. Because we all should have health insurance today.

well yes it is true.. and i dont know either but maybe i guess that medication on serious sickness such as cancer involves higher cost on the preparation and more sensitive i guess or delicate in the production..

I have a real close friend that is dying of cancer. His 2 bottles of pills 20 pills in each cost him $7,000. But he has insurance and it still cost him 500 dollars.I dont no why pills have to cost that much.Someone out there is making a lot of money off of sick people.

the medicine which can cure the more serious disease is usually complicated ,not very easy to make ,so they are expensive , i think that is the reason.

life is important and pressure so we need to take care of ourself.it's true that serious diseases are more expensive for medication than those of minor one.but this can still have a solution if only our government can think of a possible way to solve this kind of problem that our country is facing.like for example, instead of corrupting those contributions from us, they should have find a way to lessen the price increases not only for medication but also for all the goods we bought in our day to day life.piety for us poor who can't afford to pay the cost/bills for medication if we suffer from that kind of diseases. but there is one and only solution for this, our FAITH in GOD, that HE will continue to bless us and have a long, long life. and so..."BAWAL MAGKASAKIT"...

The problem is that for the pharmaceutical industries it costs a lot of money to develop those medicines and they want to make it back, yet the demand for it is a lot lower than in example aspirin. So you have utterly expensive development combined with a lot less usage, this combined can make certain medication already go up as high as over 10k Eur a month and there's no end in sight yet. Insurance companies pay it here, but they also have the option to say no if it's too expensive and they say there's a cheaper less effective alternative.

Sometimes, I'm get sick when I heard there is discrimination in the hospital. I live in Indonesia. There is so much economy discrimination in hospital. If you dont have money then you can't get the care and medicine. The hospital sounds like, 'If you don't have money, I don't care if you die or no, if you sick or healthy. Does the medicine make to people who get sick to cure?

I think the prices for meds like this are stupid, Thay have it so that if you are dying you have to pay hundreds of dollars just so you will be around longer. Not every one in the world can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on meds because they have familys to take care of and bills to pay. I think they should lower the cost so that people who are sick wont have to pay as much.
