I think there's hardly anything that you can do to increase your GPRS speed.
First because it depends on the speed provided by your GPRS service provider. In India, most cellular companies provide a speed of only around 30-40 kbps.
Second thing is that even if your service provider gives better speed, you need to have a GPRS modem (cell phones if using a telecom service) that can live upto the speed the service provider gives. Most of the cell phones don't give over 60kbps of download and 40 kbps of upload speeds.
I have tried some softwares to increase the speed of my connection, but to my woes, they don't actually worked for me as they claimed.

The max speed of GPRS is 21.4kbps of one timeslot. So for normal mobile phone, you can get 3*21.4kbps.

iam using GPRS to connection on internet and mylot every day with my PC and cable data 56K, to improve your speed you need some tweak to compare your GPRS and PC or laptop, after that you need web accelerator, thats what iam using.
