The best way is to build up the number of friends you have and try to respond to their discussions regularly. Then they are likely to respond to yours and then you should get more replies. The other way is to look at other discussions that are really popular and try to think of topics along a similar theme to try to get people interested. Usually topics that most people can relate to do better than ones about specific subjects.

i think it is just luck , and if people see your good discussion , and it does not depend on how many friends in your profile but how many friend start to be real friends but any way try to always put tags in your discussions , it help i think !!
