What's the purpose of making friends on line?

I make friends on line only because I want to choose a nice person who shares my interest to talk with. What about you? Are there any other benefits of making friends on line?

I love to leanr about different people from different cultures and I have alays been a super friendly extrovert kind of person. I have always been around to extend my hand in friendship and like to be close to people in the world, even if they are miles apart..and oh I have a soft spot for the Chinese lol, because I ended up marrying one!

Yes we are a world family and I feel just as comfortable with my Chinese family as I do with my European one..we are all having a heart..

I think that it is great when I can meet some people online who have a lot in common and who really share my interests. I have accepted friends when they have requested it so that I can get to know people from all over, but I have a few favorites because I feel that if I met them off of the internet we would be friends offline too.

I have met what has turned out to be my best friend online. We've never met in person, but have each others cell phone #'s and we can talk about anything to each other. It was surprising how much we are alike and think alike. We talk almost daily on instant messenger.
