What a crazy episode!! Who knew that Locks father would be the one who was conned Sawyers mother!! And what on earth is Ben up to?? Why is he trying to make Lock feel unspecial?
I thought the theory that Locks father had about the island being Hell was very interesting - but why would people die if they were in hell?
Also, wondering what it is that Juliette and Jack are keeping so secret? Any ideas/theories???

That one guy that gave Sawyer's file to Locke on the hill told him why he's trying to make him feel unspecial. The island didn't heal Ben like it healed Locke, and Ben is frustrated with that.
I think Locke's father is just a very cynical man and that is why he sounded so grounded in his views about the island being hell.
Juliette definitely has some sort of hold over Jack. I cannot believe what a 360 he has taken. From island leader to sabotage, in my opinion. By keeping away and being so close with Juliette--that look she was giving him when Kate approached told me that he is definitely up to no good with her--when I used to think he was going to be their salvation.
Sayid made the biggest blunder last night by telling Kate. Charlie is seeming to be more levelheaded than some of the previous island leaders. It's like everything is shifting....
My thoughts on the way Lost is going is this:
I think that DHARMA either got out of hand so it's being covered up or has been abandoned but Ben found some crazy person to fund further research and has taken it into his own hands. I think a lot of the scientists' hearts are in the right place, but it sort of seems cult-ish, whatever they are doing. Even if they are doing it for all the right reasons, when they are found out, they will all most certainly go to our world's jails.
Oh, and the thing I keep referring to them doing is still unclear to me. I have a few ideas... harvesting a "cure-all" essence from the island (simplest solution); constructing superhumans from the babies (whom are all dying on them) for either a superpower's army or for world domination (I know, extreme, LOL); or they themselves are stuck, don't know what the hell's going on, and are on a power trip, just trying to keep a head's up on the Losties.
A couple weeks back I had just stopped trying to figure out the show. I'm glad they changed it's direction and started giving us answers and action or else I would have been frustrated.

Ben also had on a nice shirt and pants, not the sort of thing you'd expect to wear on an island. But then that guy is the one who goes and does recruiting so maybe he just has a better wardrobe?

I agree Sayid should not have told Kate.
But the big thing that bothered me about last night's show...that one guy on the top of the hill talking to John. Everyone is wearing muted colored raggy clothing. And he's got this nice clean beautiful bright blue shirt on. Did he not look really out of place?

I have been wondering if the producers were going to kill off Ben this season. I think last night Locke gained some following with the others. I am wondering if the mysterious Jacob will have Locke replace Ben as leader of the others.

We still haven't seen Jacob (or Mike and Walt for that matter). I am wondering if Jacob might replace Ben with Locke. I think that is why Ben is trying to take Locke down in the eyes of the others. There is also rumors out there that there are two factions of others. Maybe Locke can unite them? Don't know, just pure speculation.

I thought this was a great Lost episode. It raised a lot of new questions even though it answered a few....especially the one about Lock's father. I think Juliette has Jack brainwashed.

it will be interesting when Sawyer brings back the tape of Juilette reporting to Ben to see how jack and everyone else reacts. I don't know why Juilette is still working for Ben when she hates him so much? It's not like he can now offer her a way off the island? Or maybe he can??

The producers of the show have insisted many times that the island is not Hell or purgatory or anything like that, but this episode seems to hint at just that scenario quite a bit. Seems like they have quite a bit to explain in the final few episodes of the season.

I think the hell comment was just Locke's Dad's way of trying to deal with what had happened to him.

Actually it's been speculated for a long time by many people that Locke's father was the real Sawyer. Last night only confirmed that. So I didn't think it was a big shocker.
I hate that Sayid told Kate and that Kate told Jack. I have no idea what Jack and Juliette are hiding, but I'm really starting to not trust him. I think it's got something to do with Ben. But there just doesn't seem to be enough clues.

What a great episode! So Sawyer finally caught up with the con man who made his father kill his mother and himself. I wonder what demons Sawyer is going to wrestle with, now that he killed the right guy? Or will this finally free him?
I can't imagine what secret Jack and Juliet are keeping. But it sure has Kate upset. Doe this mean Jack can no longer be trusted? He was the first hero they had!
I can't wait for the next episode.
