I was told if you rub vitamin E on your stretch marks while your pregnant, it can reduce or even eliminate them. Has anyone else heard of this? What is the difference between Vitamin E oil and pills? What is Vitamin E usually used for?

They're both in pill form but the oil capsule can be broken open to rub on your skin. And yes I have heard about rubbing it on your skin, it's supposed to work really well for scars too.

Stretch marks are the results of the layers of flesh beneath the epidermis tearing. There is nothing you can put on the outside of your skin to prevent them. In cases where you have a family of women who use a creme and then get no stretch marks, it isn't the creme that is doing it. It is the way their connective tissue behaves...it is genetic. Vitamin E can soothe the skin because it is an oil, just as it will soothe any skin that is stretched tight and dry.

Hi rachelzwo I hate to say this but I really don't think that there is much you can do about stretch marks. But I have heard that just rubbing olive oil into your skin might help as much as vitamin E. Give it a try. If it doesn’t work just remember those stretch marks are a badge of honor. We mothers are the most important creatures on this earth. With out use the world would soon not have any people on it. So feel very honored that God chose you to take care of his baby.

Never heard of this. I talk vitamin E everyday but never rub the oil on my skin. I wonder if it works on people trying to loose weight? Hope so, think I will try this. It may be a while before I can some, but If I do try this then I will let you know if it works (if I do not forget).

Hi! I've learned E-vitamins also is important for the immune-system! Of course, it has to be natural because the cells in our bodies are natural... Vitamin E is good for your skin! Wheat Germ Oil also brings oxygen to your muscles! My knowledge is based on Nature and Science found in an International MLM Company! Have a nice day! Bertil

Hi! A friend of mine had "stretch marks"/scars due to surgery on his leg! He happily started to use Aloe Vera Gel and felt much better in the area... I'm convinced a combination of whole foods with E-vitamins and/or Wheat Germ Oil supplements of good quality is beneficial to every - body and skin! It's all a story about structures of cells and metabolism! Have a nice day! Bertil

I have to agree that there isn't very much you can do to prevent stretch marks. I'm sorry to say that it is just the way your body will react to the stretching. Some people get them, other people don't. But, I have used Vitamin E very successfully on wounds to help prevent scars. The product isn't usually touted for that. Vitamin E by itself is generally an antioxidant. It is also in a ton of supplement products for healthy skin/hair/nails. As an experiment a few years ago, I used Vitamin E oil (but you can break the capsules and use it just as well) on a very deep and long cut I had. I used it daily until the area was completely healed and there is absolutely no scar to this day. I was impressed with it. But, it may have had just as much to do with keeping the area moisturized while it was healing. Still, I do recommend it to people looking for that sort of thing. It definitely can't hurt.
