The new Addison storyline...

What did you think of the new Addison storyline they previewed tonight? I'm not sold on it yet. It all seemed like too much drama too fast. I don't know. With Grey's, the drama had time to build. It's like they all started off with clean slates--as new interns, and then we gradually began to learn about them and their various issues. Somehow watching this new storyline just made me tired.
Although I do have to say that any show with Taye Diggs is TOTALLY worth watching!

There is actually a clause in Kate Walsh's contract, if the spin off doesn't do well enough and get cancelled, she will go back to Grey's.

No wonder the episode was two hours long. It was like watching two different shows. I guess that Addison is going back to Seattle, but if she decided to stay in S. CA, I think it would be better to have two different shows. The story lines in the two different places don't seem to really mesh. Which one is Taye Diggs?

You know, I didn't really enjoy Grey's show tonight. I usually get into it, but tonight I got bored. I didn't really like the new story line either. Maybe you are right about them rushing into things. Maybe next week will be better? It sure looked like it would be.

Foxxee,
I agree with you it was a let down to me. They could have crammed it all into an hour instead of dragging it out. Hopefully this weeks show will be much better.

I heard that they might spin off a new series with Addison as the main character. Maybe they're testing viewer response.
I agree though, I liked the way that Grey's Anatomy started. The plot was really light, so I felt like I had time to get to know the characters first before things got all heavy and dramatic.

I was not a fan of the Addison spin off. I do not really think that I would be inclined to watch it. There is something about her that I do not really like anyway. I guess it could be okay but I personally do not think that it will take off.

I found it hard to follow with so many new characters being thrown at you at one time. It was really hard to keep up with this new line. I would probably get suckered into watching it though if it does become reality and a spinoff. I can see where the show would have possibilities.

I didn't HATE the LA storyline, but I wasn't overly fond of it, either. I thought the 'elevator God' gag was funny.
I think that they sort of rushed it too much. They tried to cram everything you need to know about the characters into half of a two hour special. I liked the guy who got his car stolen by the girl he met on the internet, he seemed like he'd be an amusing character. But I agree that it just didn't feel like the Addison from Grey's.
Maybe once it settles into a spot of it's own, they will focus a bit more on the stories, and grab our attention a little more. I'll give it a shot.
I also agree with the poster who said they didn't like the direction things were taking in Seattle. Meredith's dad was TOTALLY out of line. You would think that he would pull her closer for comfort, not push her away as well.
But, all in all, I still stayed tuned in for the whole two hours! And who was that on the floor in next week's preview?

i wasn't completely sold on it either. The didn't feature addison's character much on greys, so i never got that interested in her. I think though that the spin off might not be that bad. A lot of the characters are known. And like you said taye diggs :) So i'll definetly give it a try.

You know, I really enjoyed the show but I felt like I was watching two completely seperate shows. It kind of made it hard to follow. I have to say though, I think I enjoyed Addison's show better than Grey's Anatomy. I think it will be real interesting next season. Take care!!

I don't know about this spin-off. Addie looked too preppy and bashful it almost feels like she's trying too hard on showing the viewers that it will be a good show.
It was a very long 2 hours for me and honestly, I got bored.
I also did not like the characters for now, a neurotic pediatrician, a psychologist who needs counseling, etc, etc.
Well who knows? Maybe we need to watch it apart from greys to appreciate it. We'll see.

I agree, Taye was smoking. If they are going to do a spin off, it shouldnt interfere with the original show. I didn't like the fact that we only watched Addison in L.A., it would have been better to have had several of the cast there as well.

The spin off is definately going to be VERY different from Grey's. I don't think it is going to be as serious. I'm sure the pilot won't be as in depth as the story last night because there might be people who have never watched Grey's Anatomy watching. There was drama in the beginning of Grey's. But they did get too into the other characters in Addison's storyline. Who wants to bother keeping up??

I watched it last night also, I felt Addison's pain when she cried that she could not have a child. I thought it was great to show her on a more positive note instead of being the poor victim that had no one and only cheated on her husband. I did like Tim Daly, been a long time since we have seen him in anything as stable as Grey's, I hope to see more of him, I think he might be good for Addison.

I kind of liked the new storyline. I do agree with you that they tried to cram too much drama about the new LA people into the show though.. while neglecting the current Grey's storyline. I think it was confusing how they kept switching back and forth between LA and the regular cast.
I will probably watch the new show if it gets picked up. It seems like they have a great group of actors for this new show. I really like Tim Daly. (I was sad to see his other show "The Nine" get cancelled). I like the actress who plays her "best" friend too. She was good on Alias and King of Queens.

Last night was the first episode of Grey's Anatomy that I did not like. I personally did not like the cutting of scenes from Grey's Anatomy to Seattle Grace-it was way too distracting. I would have preferred if Grey's Anatomy would have shown Addison leaving and aired regularly and then introduced Seattle Grace afterwards. It just didn't mesh well together. I also am not sure if I will watch Seattle Grace. Even though they have a talented group of actors it seemed a little corny to me. It just didn't have the same level of drama and intensity that Grey's Anatomy has and I don't know if the storylines would really keep me interested. I was really excited for 2 hours of Grey's Anatomy last night but it really fell below my expectations.
