I need an opinion of the pics from my new digital camera - Good enough for ebay?

I need your opinion on pics for an ebay listing. The pics are only being used for camera testing purposes and will NOT be an actual item that I will be listing on ebay. I'm testing a new camera and need some opinions on the first pics. I stumbled onto a very good buy on a digital camera that I'm hoping will be sufficient for pics to add to ebay listings when I finally get that far. While I'm not very pleased with the overall quality of the camera, I would like to see if the pics that I can upload directly to my computer would be of sufficient quality to add to an ebay listing. This pic is one of 4 pics I took of the camera box itself, just to get a feel for the camera and it's capabilities. I know that I will get better results after some practice with lighting, angles and backdrops but until then, what do you think of this pic? As I get replies to this discussion, I should be able to add another pic from a different side or distance, so this discussion will help me by confirming this theory as well. If I can get at least 3 or 4 members to give their opinions, I should be able to show all 4 photos thru the discussion. One of the other things I would like to have your opinion on will be strictly ebay related and would require viewing all 4 photos to order to give your opinion, so I would appreciate it if you could check back again after all 4 pics have been loaded in order to answer part two. This question will be related to adding multiple pics to your ebay listing. Of the 4 pics I took, 3 are of the front of the box and one of the back. Looking at all four pics, WHICH ones would you include if you were listing this item on ebay? Again, I'm not adding THIS item to ebay, but IF YOU WERE, which would you pick? The full screen views or the one taken from a distance? With the images not being completely clear, would you even include the rear view? I would appreciate your honest opinion, even if it winds up being your opinion that I should get more practice first, lol. :) Out of curiosity, I did an ebay search of this camera on ebay last night & noticed that nearly every listing used a stock photo. I found this very interesting as many mylot members have said actual pics improve your overall results. By the end of my search, I was still pretty happy with the price I paid, either way. The range of ebay prices I saw for this specific camera were at least double what I paid for it PLUS shipping, lol. When I searched google the range of prices were at least 5 to 10 times more than I paid for it. If you want to know the price I actually paid for it, check out the photo, I was surprised that it was so visible when some of the other writing was so blurred. Thanks in advance for your opinions. :)

well some of it was a bit blurred but it might download different on ebay. I am still working on trying to get mine set up with the pitcher and mug set. the store is going great did about $100 today it was a nice end to the week for me. right now we are trying something new this year, we have a kids drum set that has American Idol on it and we are taking bids on it so far the highest bid is $65.00 it is funny what some people will pay for stuff. well have a great weekend.

Sounds like a good day to me, lol. Best of luck on the old man and the drums, lol. I'll get better pics with more practice and better lighting. I intend to practice some more this weekend. ;D

Okay I looked at all four of them and I have seen way worse on ebay. My biggest problem is that they are too dark. the back one is pretty blurry so I don't klnow if I would add it. Even with the darkness problem I would still add them to my listing becuase I think a bad picture is better than none at all. It is great if you can get terrific pictures and I am sure with experience you wills tart taking the really good one, but for now work with what you've got. that is what I did when I first started. My thought is that even one not so great picture helps put the buyer at ease because it helps them believe that you really have the item you are selling. Now if you were selling something used that had any kind of defects I would make sure to include pictures of the defect. You want the buyer to know that you are not trying to hide anything or dupe them in any way. For general purposes I prefer a non blurry but dark picture over a blurry but light picture. I mean sure your pics are a little dark but I can still see what the item is. The blurry one is too hard to actually see the product. Keep practicing and you will get the better pictures that you want. Hope this helps.

The one of the chair is much better. Lighting does make a big difference. I always try to take pics outside if I can because the lgihting is so much better but if that is not feasable then I just make sure to open the windows. The great thing about the digital camera is that you can see the pic if you have the screen. That really helps me because I know right away if I need to take another picture or adjust the lighting. I think you will have it down by the end of today.

Another test pic - chair - This was another test pic with the new camera. The lighting was much better outside and I think the distance was pretty good on this one. :)
Thank you sunnypub. It really does help. I didn't alter these photos but I did play with lighting a little bit in one of the first 10 pics. It started out very dark but the autofix button worked well to make things more visible. I was just taking random shots to get a feel for things, like I said, but when I took the pic of this chair, the lighting was good outside & I think it turned out ok. The distance photos I took outside look like there is a blur around the edges, but I'm pretty sure with practice, I can get the edges cropped to show the subject more clearly.:)

That's one of the features I DO want in my real digital camera. I did find a good one with a 2 1/2 inch screen & 3-5x zoom for about $100, but I need to wait on a few more payouts til I can get it, lol. This one didn't come with the view screen or zoom but the ability to just plug it in to the computer & upload the shot should be fine for ebay use. Once I get better with it, of course. For $5 I couldn't pass up the opportunity to test it, lol. It even has 8MB internal memory so I didn't even need to get a memory card. :D

You will get the hang of it...If you have a scanner, I would suggest scanning the camera box. Still can't remember the name of the book.

I'll be honest with you regarding my opinion of pictures and eBay. They are not important to be as a buyer. First of all, because most of the time you can't really see every little detail - it's just to give me a general idea of the item so in that case, I think a stock photo is just as workable for me. As a seller, I hardly ever use real photos of my items. I sell books and eBay has such a wonderful feature to add stock photos of the book covers that I just use that and save myself a whole lot of hassle. I do however think there are exceptions to the rule. I will look at pictures if I'm buying clothes - although you can't see all the details on those either, I do want a general idea of the condition of the clothes. There are a few other things as well but for the most part - an item without a picture and an item with a picture will both equally have a shot at my bid being placed with them. I pay more attention to a person's reputation than anything and what other buyers are saying about them. As for your pictures - to be perfectly honest, the camera ones aren't good and if that is the quality then you are better off just using a stock photo. The chair photo is much better but again, I'm not sure it would play a role in my bidding on it just based on the photo alone. I hope that helps and good luck with your selling!

Hi Paidreader: The photos are not clear and they need more light so you can read the print. I would prefer the full view. Try the flash light and play with the exposure before you submit anything.LOL In other words you need more practice!

Two questions: Do you know the answer to "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" :o) And, where did you get the camera?

LOL, and here I though you would have gotten an email about it already. Oh well.... I found it at Fry's Electronics after you and naty suggested the nine pin adaptor for my old digital camera. :D No idea on how to get Carnegie Hall from where you are, BUT with the starting & ending addresses I could probably get you a pretty good map so you can find it, roflol. :)
