I was born in Marietta, Georgia but I have lived in Alabama most of my life. My parents and I moved to Huntsville when I was three years old. My fathaer died when I was 7 and my mother married my stepfather when I was 12. We moved to a small town in Northwest Alabama called Leighton. When I got married my husband was in the Marine Corp and we lived in North Caroloina but when he got out of the Marines we moved back to Alabama. I have met two dear friends here on MyLot that are from Alabama and my other dear friends are from several other states. I am just curious, though, how many other folks here on MyLot are from Alabama? If you don't mind sharing with me I would love hear from you.:) What part of Alabama do you live in and have you always lived here? :)

Sheila
I'm not from Alabama, I am from Indiana. I have traveled through there many times when I visit with my brother and sister who live in FL. I will be traveling through there at the end of June when I will be attending my nephews wedding on the 30th.

I just sent you a pm but I'll ask you another question. If you don't mind letting me know, what part of Indiana are you from? The reason I ask is I have some cousins who live in Anderson, Indiana. :)

I understand. One of my daddy's brothers when he was living lived there with his family. His sons still do but most of my daddy's people live in and around Georgia.

I am from New Albany. It is right across the river from Louisville, KY. Anderson is further North from here.

I live in Mississippi (Near Iuka) so I'm not far from you. In fact my husband often is up your way on his sales route. He was in Florence area today in fact. I've lived here or near all my life except when I was away at college...a long time ago, lol.

That is wonderful Lucy!! If you ever come this way with your husband let me know, maybe we can get together somewhere and eat lunch or something. :-) My husband works in Florence as a letter carrier for the Florence Post Office so he is there every day except Sunday or unless, like this weekend, he has his long weekend off.
My daughter's boyfriend lives in Fulton, Mississippi. I'm not sure how far that is from you though. He says he is about 26 miles, I think, from Tupelo.
I would love to get to meet you sometime!!!

I am not from Alabama but I wanted to tell you that you can look that up on here. Just go to the left side of the page almost to the bottom, just above the mylot population. Then go to users by location.

I live in Alabama. I live near Huntsville. I am originally from Michigan and moved to Chicago when I was in my 20's. I moved to Nashville, TN in 2001 and moved here to Alabama in 2005. I love it here. Life is so much slower paced and everyone seems so friendly. The job market is strong and the cost of living is very reasonable. I would love to meet others on here from Alabama.

Hello There!
I am on vacation but a friend loaned me a laptop and I was checking in on MyLot for a minute. It is really good to hear from you. If you live near Huntsville then you don't live very far from me. My family and I live in Colbert County, close to Muscle Shoals, Florence and Tuscumbia. I'm glad to know that you enjoy living here. I love Alabama too. I have visited a lot of other places but there is no place like Alabama and home. :)

I live in Alabama, I'm in Hunstville. I haven't always lived here, I'm from Massachusetts but I first moved to AL in 1994 when I was 14 and then moved back to MA after a little over to years do to my grandmother's health. My mother and I moved back to AL in 2004 and we've been here since. I love it here and decided to move back because the people are great, the state is beautiful, the food is amazing and life is so much more relaxed. I was ill from work stress and my doctor said I needed a change, I don't think it's what she meant but 2 months later we packed up and moved down with little more than our stuff and the cat. Whenever I call back to MA they laugh at my accent and ask when we're coming home. We laugh and say hey come November and we're in flip flops while ya'll are in snow boots... no way we're going back! I plan to live here for the rest of my life, I think it's a great place to raise children and set roots.
Great topic!
