Today, i got up at six, had breakfast, got eldest daughter ready for her karate class, i will take her in about a hour. Then I will take youngest daughter to ballet classes. Then, on my return I will do my housework. It has slowly dawned on me that my whole day is full from dawn to dusk and i dont have a rest. How do you factor in me time?

Hi, ESKARENA,you are such a happy housewife. It's a tough job to be a good housewife, and I believe you are doing a good job! You daughters must be very proud of you!

Today, I also got up at 6am, had breakfast and then the rest is work, just like you! The weekend is past and a good one it was too, but I think family life and our active heads dont let us sleep in! No time for that! I rather get up, get the ironing done early, so I can enjoy the rest of the day and work on my computer!

thats a great way of looking for life. I have actually managed a day off work today so i can have some ME time eventually. Now i only have the kids to deal with today, lol. They spent the night at grandmas so it could have been worse, lol.

I definetly hear you. I think you need to make some time for yourself or you wont do it. Im always on the go and If I dont plan to do something relaxing I wont do. I think its in our nature to keep going and going. Sort of like the energized bunny.LOL

Sound like my house, today I got up at 6:30, got our one daughter up and dressed for baseball, picked up our other daughter who stayed at a slumber party last evening dashed to the baseball field by 8:30, watched a great game (won 18-5), came home to change clothes now headed to a baseball team pool party from 1:00 to 5:00, then a baby shower this evening from 7:00 to 9:00 and then home pooped and do it all again tomorrow, who said weekends were for rest??

yeah i think that s what happens to all the mums ... we never really have a break ... kids, meals, housework ... at least kids and meals are 2 things we absolutly have to take care of everyday ... when I need a break i just skip the housework, but I agree it never looks like hubby's week ends : staying up late, playing computer and watching tv ... ok changing ONE diaper ( I helped you darling ... ) Ok I know he works hard all week at work but don't I ? Is it because my "job" at home is less physical that it is not tiring ( waking up every hour at night because the baby is sick ... having to cope with the next day with only 2-3 hours of sleep ... for a week!!! Trying to make the baby stop crying for an hour, rocking, singing,... nothing seems to work ... this is hard for the nerves) I think they dont really realize it is really a 24/7 job to be a mom But it got great perks like being the one to see the first smile or the baby calling "mama" ... you are his world and it is very rewarding to know that

My day is full of stuff. My kids have long left home so no probs there, but the time I would have spent sorting anything out they needed, is now occupied with something else anyway. When I first came into contact with Zen, I learned that in Japan, which is a very Zen-oriented country, everybody works incredibly long hours and yet seem to have this tranquility. In Zen there is total focus and mindfulness on whatever task you are undertaking, mundane or not mundane. The mind that is constantly focused on the moment of now, hardly tires at all, because there is no stress of what needs to be done next. And because of mindfulness, the tasks one has just done have been done to completion. I found this works but it has taken me several years to perfect it - in fact there is no "perfecting" it as it is an ongoing life process.

I don't get any rest on weekends either. I worked all week and my kids had things going on every single night this week so I have a ton of stuff that needs done. My boyfriend is working this weekend so it's all up to me to get it done. I got up early and have done a couple loads of laundry so far. I have to cut the lawn and do the regular household chores, plus we are goign to be moving so I'm hoping to get some packing done on my 2 days off. Thank goodness my kids don't have anything going on today.

You don't say how old the kids are but I think it is time for you to give your husband and kids some chores. This would free up some time for you. If you don't free up sometime you are going to go into overload. Even if it means that the dusting doesn't get done, find sometime for yourself.

Well since I don't have children I don't experience the same kind of things as you do, but it seems I'm on the go 24/7 myself...I really don't have much me time either...And even though it's Saturday, a day I would like to sleep in a bit, I had to be up real early as in my apartment building they are doing electrical work in all the apartments....in fact, beginning today is my "lucky" day....in fact they just came and will be invading my apartment soon...I had to round up my cats and shove them in this large travel case big enough for a large dog...the electricians keep the door open so I don't want the only "family" I have to run out..and these guys are usually here until five (it's 8:29 a.m. as I write this)---already I just want to crawl back into bed again...I always have a zillion errands to do..even though it's just for me and not for kids like you have...but still...even being a single gal one has a lot of things to do...and even though my mother passed away last August, there are still a lot of loose ends relating to her that I'm putting closure on--so no, I really don't have much me time to just do nothing...I'm ALWAYS doing something.

same like you.. i have a busy weekend too.... i need to get up early to post here.. and then later on i need to study and do my revision on certain subjects.. my final exam is soon and i think i have very little time left for myself.. i found out that i'm not getting any enjoyment here.. in fact.. i'm feeling more and more pressured everyday.. it's really stressful to have all your time occupied .. isn't it? aihz.. how i wish i could be like other teenagers.. enjoying themselves.. but i think it's quite impossible for me now.. as i have more debts to pay soon =)

You are quite a good mam, my mam is the same busy as you are. I'm not married now, I fear marriage and taking care of baby, since you won't have your own time.

I'm pretty lucky nowadays as my daughter is 17 and less demanding on my time, although there is still work and housework to get done and then when I get home from work I usually take my daughter out on her nightly driving lessons. I usually get a couple of hours free time of a nightime, but there's usually some tv I want to catch up on, or some mylotting to do (OMG it's 12.30! I've been on here for four hours! ) Brightest Blessings my friend!

Well first you should not schedule your kids for so much, sorry if that sounds nasty, but our weekends are for doing stuff around the house and relaxing.... hubby and i slept in til 8, got up, got the kids ready, made breakfast (we usually make muffins or waffles on the weekend), hopped in the van, went to do some errands, got groceries, came home, unpacked...hubby worked outside in the garden and i vacummed and did laundry...went out again and did a bit more shopping then made supper, now kids are doing the dishes...thonight we get to rest :-)
