One of my neighbours down the street have put their house up for sale. Its only been a week and the its already sold. I see other houses in different areas that have a for sale sign for months now. If you're thinking of moving house or when you moved house, what things did you consider before purchasing the property?

when we visited the house we viewed, it was important for me how i would feel once i have entered the door. the state of the house is important as well. but most especially the garden, LOL.

Thanks for your response. For me, this is very important too. As if you know straight away whether you can easily relax inside the house as soon as you enter. When we were looking for a house, we've already considered everything outside the prooperty such as area, school, bus stop, shops and emergency services before viewing the house. I also like a good sized garden, another place where I can relax away from the husle and bustle of busy life.

Last year when we were house hunting we thought we knew what we wanted. We picked a couple of different towns that interested us. We wanted to buy a house that was close to where we worked, didn't want to have a long commute. We checked into their school system to see how good it was. Then we started to look at house that would be able to work for our family. We wanted a certain number of bedrooms and bathes.A large back yard for the children to roam.

Here in England, the government intruduced a rating system for the schools. As a result, some people have moved nearer the best schools according to the ratings. I thought it was crazy at first but it actually makes perfect sense since they are only thinking of what's best for their kids.

The biggest factor when moving and looking into buying a house is the price and the location of the house but other factors include , the size of the house , what heats the house , if there are any major problems with the house and what it looks like when you first look at it . Some people want more closet space while others may want a bigger kitchen . Each family will look at something differently to find if it will suit their needs but the biggest factor will always be weather or not the house is being sold for a good price , location and the decency of the house also what is around the house . What are the neighbors like in the area etc .

Thanks for your response. My wife and I took longer to decide the area where we would buy. The main thing was that the journey to work needs to be less than an hour.
