how do you do it? I'm working on making a new one and would like some ideas. I currently have a list of all the bills, then I have added groceries, gas, misc. At the top of the page I have each month listed until the end of the year and the amount of money coming in each month. I then take the money coming in and subtract all the bills and carry over the balance to the next month. I then put a checkmark beside each bill as I pay it. Any extra money, goes towards credit card debt. Is this how you do it? Or is there a better way?

When I get my pay, I will take 20% of it and deposit it into my saving account (Force saving else there will left with none), and then split the rest of my pay into a few portion, Food, Car installment, credit card bill, misc, etc.

My budgeting have always gone wrong. It is my strong feeling that money need to be spent will be spent in spite of whatever precautions you take.A check on spending .. you'll have to face unforeseen expenditure . It is quite strange . Isn't it ?

I basically do it that way. I dont have any credit card debt but I do have other debt. I budget each month weekly as I grocery shop weekly. I have all my big bills come out at the end of the month as that is when I get my disability check, my husband gets paid weekly. I alot an amount for groceries, cigerettes(for hubby), spending, misc, horse riding(daughter),gas and I alternate weeks between putting money in savings and paying gym membership. At the end of month, I pay those plus big ones such as rent, car payment, debt, cable, phone and a larger amount to our savings. We don't end up with alot in savings but we get alittle. It is important to try and put alittle in savings if you can incase something happens. Twice now we have had to wipe our savings out. Once due to my husband having a heart attack and the following year due to me getting sick and going on disability. So now we are trying to build it up again for an emergancy.

I do my budget the same way too. I put priority on the bills that come regularly every month. These are usually utility bills. I make sure they are all paid at the beginning of the month so I don't have to worry about them for the rest of the month. The groceries and all other things come after these bills. I also put checkmarks on the bills that have been paid for, like you do. It's always good to make a list of everything at the start of the month so will know if there will be anything left for savings after all the expenses have been allotted for.

I too have a budget. I have a piece of ledger paper for each item on my budget. I have a column for incoming extra money that is alloted for that item and then put the budgeted amount that is alloted each month. Then I carry over what , if any, if left for next month. That is unless I have to borrow from one to make another one meet the monthly budget.

That is what, I think, the most boring thing to do. I am not very rich but I still never go for wasting my tme on these type of updates or programming. I thnik you can't control your hand from spending by doing that. You should be sound about you need and what is being sold to you. You should know where to spen and where not to and it will do just right.
