Sorry you had to re-post because your mylot went down but I thank you. I have never been out of the US but I have heard and also seen on TV Scotland and I'm sure it is even more beautiful in person.
I was just telling my son this morning that I think one reason I get depressed and bored is because I have no friends here in town plus I don't really have anything exciting happening in my life right now. I have also quit smoking this past Dec. and I feel like that is making me depressed at times since I smoked for so many years.
I told my granddaughter one day that I should have had many many children instead of just 3 then maybe I would still have some around. hahaha I always like people around, always looked forward to when my kids got out of school for the summer and hated when they had to go back while other mother's were just the opposite. hahaha
Again I thank you for the post and letting me know what you like to do when bored but so happy you have so much going on right now not to be bored.

Thank you so much weemam for putting me in the same catagory of good friends as your other friends, that makes me feel really good. I also consider you a friend.
I did see the pictures of Scotland on your web site. Can't wait to see more of them. I hope Ross is feeling better.
I hope you are having a great day.

Hello hezoid, thank you for responding to this discussion. Things seem to be going better now, I am not as restless. I think some of it was some medication I was on at that time and off of it now. I love your avatar, it looks a lot like mine, mine is my cat.

Actually I must say that I don't fall into that terrible feeling of boredom. I seem to always have something to do and if I don't; I can jump onto mylot and chat away.
My nieces and nephews gave me this website link which I think is quite humorous..How bout giving it a try:

Take care;)+

It must be nice not to be bored. hahaha The other day I told my grandson that I was a 2 by 4 and he said "What? What do you mean" and I said I feel bored (board). He got a big kick out of that so that is our newest saying when we feel bored. Our weather has been horrible this week and having to stay indoors so much.
Thank you for that site, also thank your niece and nephew for passing it on to you so you could help others like myself. I brought it up and will check it out more a little later on, I put it in my favorites. Going to have to get off of here soon. Another cloud is coming up.
Have a good day.

hi tyc! ^__^
when i feel restless and bored, i usually stay in front of the tv and channel surf. ^__^ or in front of the computer and just organize my files while listening to hardcore music to lift up my mood. LOL sometimes i watch old movies that i have already watched before. ^__^ but the best way for me to pass boredom is to play with my hyperactive 3-yr old nephew until i give up with his unlimited energy. LOL

Thank you for the response secretbear. I don't have a 3 yr old around to pass the boredom with but wish I did. :) We have gotten a laptop computer now so I am not stuck in just the one room when I get online and that makes it much better. Now on pretty days I can go out on the patio or I can just sit in front of the TV and be online at the same time. Also in the living room there is the surround sound so on days when there is nothing on to watch I can crank up those speakers and listen to my music too.
I have not been too bored or restless in a while now thank goodness.
Oh I didn't mention, instead of a 3 yr old I have a dog almost one year old so he keeps me pretty occupied at times too.
Have a super great weekend.

Tyc,I know you mentioned "something that doesn't take talent",but my best relaxer, is playing music, either,on a guitar, or a keyboard! And you don't have to be talented to play either one, cause I am the perfect example of that! There are people that are quick learners, some with photostatic memory, some born with natural talent, but when I started playing guitar I had no idea of this! So as I proceeded to learn guitar, I just plodded along, until one day (after a long time), I became a decent guitar player!
(I now have my own band, played guitar for over 30 yrs, play the keyboards also,do lead singing, and harmony vocals,) and little did I know that, I was not a quick learner, didn't have photostatic memory, and my talent wasn't natural! The point I am trying to get at is, when I indulge myself into learning, and studying how to play music, it is the most rewarding, relaxing, pastime I can think of! (And it is cheaper than playing golf)Basically, I just enjoyed being indulged in it!
I think maybe you should give it a go!!

Well, It's never too late! I just started playing the keyboards 10yrs Ago! Plus, not only that, it gives you something to do!
In the early years, we used to travel a lot with my little 3 piece band! From 1980 to 1985!We went on a circuit from Wichita falls, to the valley in Brownsville and McAllen to Ft. Worth,up in Oklahoma to Altus, and Lawton! Then we took some trips into South Dakota,Montana, and Tacoma Washington, where my wife had relatives! Then we started staying regional, because the kids started going to school, but we played until 1993! And now we just play locally!

Thanks for the info musicman. You were a whole lot younger when you took up learning the guitar. haha I used to always want to learn how to play the piano but never had the room for one. My kids when they were young had keyboards but I never could get the hang of that either. No photostatic memory here either. hahaha
Does your band travel around or do you just play locally?

Thank you for telling me what you do to keep busy and not be bored. I am watching more TV now and since I got a laptop computer I am on mylot more often and also on a game site. On pretty days I can even take the computer outside on the patio and enjoy the outdoors or just go out there and sit. I do have a book that I haven't read yet and I need to get to reading that one day.

I have a long list, listen to music while baking and cleaning. Excercise, get online and play or work on a site that makes money. Do something nice for a friend or relative. Polish up and do extra cleaning on the house because it always makes me feel better. Take a spa day and give yourself beauty treatments al day long.Hope these help!

When i feel restless, I prefer going out for a brisk walk.I have done it lot many times and I feel good after taking that walk. I usually flip through my old albums when I feel very bored. Childhood memories are wonderful. Self talking also helps to get out of these slow hours.

I guess I should have mentioned that I have a problem right now with leaving too far away from my house alone, agoraphobia.
The albums sound nice, but I feel like that might make me feel depressed. See, I am one who loves to have someone close. Most people can't wait for the day their kids grow up and leave home, to me it is the opposite.
Don't think I am dumb when I ask this question, but what exactly do you mean by "self talking"?

HI there,
Oh, I just realized you posted this 3 years ago. I saw one of your responses and your cute logo pic (your kitty I assume?) ;o)
But anyway, I wish I had more free, easy time, but I kind of come here between or way after work (or sneakily though I have a lot of work to do), to calm myself and relax.
- Short walks, even around your neighborhood would be great.
- Though you said you're not a musician or musical at all, you can start at any age, and just for fun. If you don't want to spend time learning a beautiful instrument and enjoy humming/singing, join a local chorus. There are even many in my area that have many retired seniors or even working, but people just taking part for fun. My mother also just rejoined one which she hadn't done since way back in college!
- Learn an art: Crochet, knit, embroidery. Those are great time passers and accomplishing for yourself, making things for others, like your grandkids. :o)
- If you just need to pass a few minutes, find some games online.
- Call an old friend and reunite, even if on the telephone. That can be exciting. If too shy or nervous, send them a letter/card, or email if you have it. I bet they'd be delighted to hear from you.
- Learn a song that you want to sing to or teach your grandkids.
- Draw pictures, join a clay class (that's open to whenever you want to go in and do it on your own).
- Visit an animal shelter and spend time with the poor but darling furries looking for a home. Just to spend time; don't need to adopt, as I bet you have some furry loved ones at home who you can play and hug with all the time. :o)
Happy fun days to you!

You do have a lot of great ideas here. Oh I can't sing, can't carry a tune in a bucket as the saying goes...now my daughter sure can sing but I think she got that talent from my dad and it skipped a generation. He also played the guitar and piano, self taught but he is not around to help me learn and I have no room for a piano and that is what I have always wanted to learn how to play. I do know how to crochet but it is getting too hot now for that. Yes, I do have a cat, got her when she was a kitten and she will be 15 yrs old on the 27th of this month. Also now have a dog too, he turned 2 this past January. My grandson will be coming for a visit this summer and I am looking forward to that. I also have been playing on a game site on the computer.
I thank you for stopping by and leaving a message.

Awww, I see your Avator cutie, is your 15 year old cat. :o) Great if she gets along well with your young dog. :o) It's great you have the exact date of birth. Most of my dear [pets over the years, since they were adopted from shelters, their birthdates are not known, but estimated year if not a kitten.
Well, it sounds like you are busy staying busy and having fun with your animals (and family visiting). :o) If you ever decide to realy, even for fun, start up piano, then get a keyboard, miniature if can't get full size keyboard (which is wayyy smaller than a piano, so could fit into you rhouse, I bet).
I bought a full size key (and keys are weighted like a piano key too) that I keep in my dining room. It is actually very pretty to have by the window. :o)

I am finding a lot to play on pogo now so that helps some and I also go out on the patio and watch the hummingbirds and other birds plus the squirrels around here. Oh I bet it is hard to give up some of your collections. Thanks for responding and have a great weekend.
