If you have the patience and support of your family it is awesome. I have been doing it for five years. My advice is to remember to put the needs of your family first and don't burn yourself out. Best wishes!

I know lots of people that have their own in home daycare and love it. I could never do it, I don't the patience to take care of other peoples children. Taking care of your own kids vs. taking care of someone eles children is not even close to being the same.

I have done it before but did it before I had my own kids. It was fun and it was nice to make money. I have thought about doing it again but my kids keep me really busy and I am afraid I would not have the patience for more kids.

I have been a registered home daycare provider for about 6 years now and love it. It is really hard work and takes a lot of patience but it is probably one of the most rewarding jobs out there. The trick to doing daycare is planning ahead and keeping the children busy. They get naughty when they are bored so if you keep them busy doing activities the time will just fly by. Good luck to you!

Sherry, I have done child care for over 40 years. It was a super way to supplement our household income and my still get to stay at home. I have been very fortunate and not had to work an outside job, except church secretary, and most of that was done at home, because of my doing child care. So if you thought you might have the patience, most parents love having an individual taking special care of their children. I know it is a great way to add more to the household income.

i babysit sometimes to earn some extra money. for me it is a convenient and fast way to earn. i am also lucky to be taking care of nice, polite, and obedient kids. i did take care of some wild kids, oh my, i was tired after just few hours. if you babysit those cute wild ones, you have to shout and pull out every skill you have to calm them

I have been a licensed child care provider for almost 10 years. During that time I have had and raised 3 kids and been able to be at home with them. I also bought a house in the real estate market in California which is CRAZY!
There are advantages and disadvantages of working at home..but my biggest goal was to be able to raise my own children while having an income..and child care has done that.

Yes I do a home daycare. But if you are not certain you have patience its probably not a good choice.

I've been providing daycare for the same child for over five years. I started in her home when she was 8 months, and now she's just turned 6, and she comes to my home. It's worked out well, as I've gotten to know the family, and the little girl and I have bonded. She now thinks of me more like a grandma. It can be very tiring, and you do need a 'lot' of patience, but it does have its rewards. All the best to you.
