Help Please...Trojan?

My AVG program discovered a trojan last night. It seems to have taken care of the problem, but I want to know if there are any other free programs out there that I can do a scan and remove unwanted junk from my computer files. I can't afford for anything to go wrong with the computer right now. So if you can help, it would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have a question, and not to sound stupid. What exactly is a trojan? Is that a hidden virus? Thanks in advance.

We can not named it as a virus, generally, virus cause the damage to the computer system directly. But most Trojan will not harm your system, but them will open some backdoor on your computer, then it try to steal your password or other private information by collecting it when you input them in your online-banking or shopping, and send it back to somewhere online.

I'd strongly suggest the free HijackThis program and I have a tutorial on AC. http://associatedcontent.com/review Also, I would try a free trial of one of the better anti-virus progams (F-secure, Zone Alarm, Trend Micro) to pick up on things AVG may have missed. Even better go to ZoneAlarm.com and if you take them up on one of their offers you get the Internet Security Suite for free. I did this last night and am well pleased. Hope this helps.

i recommend NOD32... it can take care spyware, malware, virus, trojans. i think it's more powerful than norton and it does not eat your pc resources. but if your asking for free trojan remover i recommend Trojan Guarder, Trojan Guarder runs at the background and scans almost every second. you will have a security over trojan every second and it is effective in removing them.

If you can't afford to have anything go wrong with your computer, you really need to tighten up on security. My first recommendation to anyone with a Windows PC is an IPS (Intrusion Prevention Systems) firewall. One such firewall is Sunbelt Kerio, which comes in a free version. My personal choice is McAfee Personal Firewall Express, which comes in the free, all-in-one AOL Safety and Security Center. McAfee has really tightened up their firewalls since last fall, and AOL's all-in-one is quite enough to protect average users from drive-by exploits on the web. If you want even greater security, you could lock the registry and system32 folder. Personally, I use Arovax Shield and Folder Guard Pro. However, Folder Guard is not free. There is also a way to lock the system32 folder manually, using the Administrator account in Safe Mode. However, this is a bit more complex than something I would recommend to the average user, and an inconvenience when you want to install new software (Folder Guard makes it easy to toggle protection).

make sure your avg anti virus is up-to-date, and scan your computer to check trojan, infected area of system, if do so you can heal the infected area / trojan..
