Believe me if I could afford to I'd be moving out of this state. Well not only due to affording it, my parents live here and they are getting up there in years so I want to be close. I hate the heat here, the prices are outrageous, people are rude, and the job market is pathetic. They keep saying it's cheaper to live here and maybe it is compared to New York but not compared to many states. Not sure what area you live in but the insurance rates are enough to kill the economy. I'm seeing more and more abandoned homes because of it. Something has got to change soon here or no one will be able to afford to live here.

I live in SW FL. HOme of the super rich and the working poor. My little town has changed so much in the past 15 yrs. I have such a love/hate with this area. I love the warm weather, really can't take cold weather. But the cost of living keeps going up and up. Mostly, it's the type of people that has changed the most. It used to be so relaxed. Now we have a bunch of rich, demanding aholes in the area. Everybody is in a hurry and selfish. We don't know where we would go though. I haven't found anyplace I like better in the USA. Plus my kids are entering middle school, so I'm not sure it's a good thing to move until they are out of high school. I hope all the FL moving to NC/SC/GA don't wreak that area too. Drive up the prices, fancy lifestyle and rude behavior.

Well, it's not our imagination, people are leaving in droves. I heard on the radio talk show today that was talking abt shifts in the US population. They talked abt FL is losing population for 2 reasons: 1) cost of housing 2) people are sick of the illegals. This wasn't even an anti-immigration conversation. It's just what the stat's showed. There is developing a 2 tier economy similar to Mexico where there are super rich and immigrants/poor to serve them.

In this area we also have the Senior Citizens taking many of the jobs. Sorry but true. The companies would rather higher two or three part time seniors at minimum wage then one person at full time even at minimum wage. They get a tax break by doing so. It makes it rough in my area which is near Tampa. So between the high schoolers, the seniors and the illegals it makes it very hard for the average person to find a job, let alone a job that can support the rising costs.

we have family there. They say its very expensive and if you retire and you dont have alot of money, you probably wont be able to afford the cost of living. I would not live there because i detest hurricanes. I moved away from an area like that and have no interests in being in the path of those storms.
