Are you closer to your In laws children or your own brother and sisters children

I am about to be an aunt. My fiance's brother just found out his girlfriend was pregnant. I just can't see myself doting over this child like I would if it were one of my own brother's or sister's. So I am wondering if you have neices or nephews on each side which ones are you closer to?

definately my side of the family. my DH kids are farther away geographically. they are also not a close family even when we lived up there. the just dont seem to have any fun, too uptight.

Hi xoShannonNCxo. Congratulations Auntie! I have 3 nieces and one nephew. Most are from hubby's family but only one is from one of my sisters. Of the 4 of them, there are two that I'm closest to but I love them all dearly. The two I'm closest to are the youngest in the family but they are very similar even though they come from different families. My baby sisters daughter was born the same year my brother-in-laws daughter was. There is only a six month difference between them but they are like two peas in a pod, lol. I'm always happy when they have a chance to get together at family functions. :)
