cold calling

I often get people phoning me trying to sell me something over the phone. The most recent one was trying to sell me a mobile phone package deal. I was told that I am going to "save" a lot of money by taking up their offer. When I said that I am happy with what I've got, the guy at the other end insisted that I am going to save money. I queried as to how and it turns out that I need to "spend" money first before saving! How would I save when I have to spend? There was silence so I just said sorry but I'm not interested and put the phone down before he could utter another word.
Do you get these calls? What's your reaction when you get them? Do you find them annoying? How do you deal with them? Do you slam the phone as soon as you find out they're selling you something? Do you play games with them by pretending you're interested only to say no anyway? Would you report such instance? How would you fight back?

yes i do get these cold calls. i found it annoying most times as they don't listen to you, they just say their "litany" once you pick the phone up. i know that is their job, tough, but it's really annoying, causing me not to answer the phone most often. i don't slam the phone though because i don't want to be rude to them, and i don't play games as well, but i know somebody who does, LOL. i just say i'm sorry but i'm not interested. i haven't reported anybody yet though as it is their job - i haven't encountered anybody rude to be reported. i just hope and pray though, that they would stop one day, LOL.

Somehow I don't think they'll stop calling. I think that if one company stops then they will only sell on the phone numbers on their database so you'll get a different company calling you next time. If only the phone line provider can do something with barring all their numbers. :o)

One time I got one of these calls and I just let the person talk. When they were finished, I screamed into the phone and just hung up LOL. They never called back.

There's 3 hour period when they call. Sometimes I don't pick up. Sometimes I pick up but if there is silence at the beginning I put the phone down straigh away. Sometimes I get caught out especially if I'm expecting a call. When I get annoyed I either politely back off or play with the situation to release tension. hehe

i don't get those calls...but if i will get one, i will just ignore it...i think they will be annoying
