I have arthitis in my hips and when I lay down at night they really hurt. I must have it developing in my left upper arm because when I lay down at night it starts throbbing too. Only when it gets unbearable will I take motrin or tylenol. I want to know what you do for your arthritis in your hips and arms. Maybe some of your suggestions will help me.

Oh dear it really sounds like you are in the wars with this dreadful arthritis, I do not have it thank goodness not yet any way. You do have to keep your body warm especially in the cold weather as this is when the arthritis mainly plays up and I have some ghoana medicine which is extremely good for any pains in the body especially for arthritis.

It is not real bad every night but like last night it rained and OUCH! I had an awful night. I will check out this ghoana med. Thanks.

If it is arthritis and not nerve pain you must have treatment to stop the body from attacking itself. If you do not you will ruin your hip and shoulder joints. Please see a reputable Rheumatologist in your area. Home remedies/natural remedies will not stop the inflammation that wrecks joints.
Either go now or go later -- but go for treatment or become crippled.

mamacathie: I too have arthritis, pretty much everywhere, but especially in my lower back, knees, ankles, arems and shoulders. Try elevating your knees and your lower back. This creates a "valley" for your hips and takes some of the pressure off of them. I myself have to sleep in a reclined position, I can't lay flat on a bed anymore. Also, if your arms are bothering you, elevate them on pillows as well. I take 3 Ibuprofen when I'm in pain. They say Aleve is good for Arthritis pain

Also, here are some natural remedies I have heard about:
Of course, Glucosamine/Chondroitin
Ester C
Royal Jelly
Alfalfa Tablets
Tumeric
Foods that help: cherries, cold water fish, olive oil, green tea, garlic, onions

I have arthritis in my hands, my hips and my ankles, I know the throbbing pain that can wake you up at night.
I can't take motrin or advil, I have terrible side effects from it, so I only take tylenol when I really need too.
Heat helps me though, staying warm eases the pain.
This is going to sound weird, and I have yet to try it, but my FIL eats five raisins a day that have been soaked in rum, he swears it helps his arthritis, but I can't vouch for it since I never tried it.

Nope I dont have arthritis thank god. But I know somepeople at work who have it and from talking to them I am very thankful I dont have it even though im young and I can get it when im older which I hope not. I know for a lot of people that have arthiritis where they have it weather it be in the arm or in the legs it starts to act up when ever its going to rain or snow that week which is a weird thing.

Doctors and prescribed meds are the last on my list. I had the side effects of the meds and I just don't even take motrin or tylenol unless I am hurting BAD! I feel home remedies and natural things are much better to me.

I suffer very bad Arthritis in my hips because I was born with shallow hip cups.I cannot take anti inflammatory medication because I get stomach pains so I take panadol osteo 3 time s a day and yes it very painful trying to sleep move the wrong way and a big OUCH is what happens. I have treatment from a Physio and I do Pilaities 2 times a week and Hydro therapy 2 times a week the answer is keep your joints moving and stay out of the cold weather if you can, let your joints guide you by their weather report LOL
