I've been to all the usual big tourist places. What are some kind of cool little towns or sights to see in FL. I like to take "exploring trips" with my boys. We will have time this summer,so maybe we can visit some of the quieter places to see in FL. We are going to Fentiman Condo this summer. CAn't remember the town, north of Tampa abt 2 hrs.

Well in the Tampa Bay area there is a lot to see. If you don't want the big tourist places here are a few suggestions for you:
The Tampa Bay Aquarium: Tampa
MOSI: Tampa (Museum of Science and Industry)
Hands on Museum: St. Petersburg
Salvador Dali Museum: St. Petersburg
The Sponge Docks: Tarpon Springs
Weeki Watchi/Buccaneer Bay: Weeki Watchi Springs area. Semi big tourist Spot
Homassassa Springs: Homassassa
Hope this helps and I hope you have fun enjoying it.

You're welcome. Wish I could have been more help. There is a Planetarium in Bradenton but not sure where. There is also some sort of Dinosaur place over on I4 but again not sure where, just know it's North of Tampa headed towards Orlando. I haven't been to the Dionsaur place at all just seen signs for it. Lowery Park Zoo can be nice as well and it's a smaller zoo in Tampa. Other then that I can't really think of anything around here.

Not sure about much up in that area, but just south of Tampa, off one of the keys in Sarasota, there's a place called Mote Marine Lab. They have a smaller aquarium, and they take in and try to rehabilitate sea animals. Tampa aquarium is nice also, but Mote is a lot cheaper, and it's a gorgeous drive. There's also a beach, my mom went there I never did, can't remember if it's off Venice Beach(I think it's Venice Beach) or Sarasota, but there's supposedly sharks teeth all over the place in the sand. Probably have to ask around for a better location for that, but I know when we were kids we used to love collecting sharks teeth on the beach.

It's not Venice Beach. It's off Sarasota Bay. I think it's closer to St. Armand's Square, Lido Key area. I went there abt 15 yrs ago. It is a pretty neat place with the research and animal rescues.

Rock Springs is a nice place; it's a ?state? park with a natural spring and a small river you can float down. There are three parts; the spring, the first part and the last part.
The spring is absolutely beautiful and it's a great place to swim or photograph.
The first part is rocky, and not very pleasant, though there are little side springs to visit, and you can find shark's teeth on the bottom. The first part ends in a wide and deep pool, where many people swim, fish, and sunbathe.
Then it goes into the last part, which is very natural; the grasses haven't been cleared from the edges, and the bottom is smooth sand.
All in all, it's a out of the way, relatively quiet place located in central FL. Oh, and by the way, they changed the name, to something I forget, so you might have to do a little research to find it. They ask for a 'suggested donation' of something less than $5 when you go in.

That sounds pretty good. I think my sister talked abt this one time. Do you see any gators? I hate those stupid things. I wish they would just fry them up and make belts & purses out of them. I can't turn around without seeing one of those "endangered" lizards. We have 2 at my office complex ponds.
