Now, imagine that you are working in a company. You are working on a good pay but certainly you can get a better deal from other if you want to. The good thing on your current situation is that you are not that pressured, you have time with your family and even have time to do some side business jobs.
But then again, you have enough skills to land on a high paying job. You can transfer to another company that can provide more challenge, more training ... and more pay. The price though is your time which you will now devote more to your new high paying job. There will be more sleepless nights due to office pressure. And possible headaches that you are currently not having on your mediocre job.
So would you choose the more rewarding and high paying job or the average job which gives you more time for yourself and family?

that will be a good outlook. contentment in what we have is what defines happiness in life. most families have broken up because, the members therein has never known contentment in their hearts of whatever it is that they are having in life. having a contented happy life is a non-stressful life and it can allow us to live comfortably better days.

it depends upon the situation. if i intend to keep on working until retirement day, i will keep my present job. after all, it is all i need to keep things going at comfortable levels. i can be with the family and have time with them, and the amount that i am earning is good enough for us anyway.
however, if i am considering to be putting up a business of my own after sometime and be an independent one from bosses, i will consider taking the more stressful job. if i can save enough money to enable me to get a good small earning business of my own within less than 5 years, i will go for it. i will have a good meeting with all the members of my family before going into it, so everyone will understand the situation. also, even if the members of my family will see that we have more money now, they will not be asking me to buy them for some luxuries. they know what the savings has been intended for.

i agree. sometimes you just have to bite the bullet to attain your dreams. more importantly, people around you should understand your undertaking so they can help you focus more in achieving that dream.

tough situation - but it really depends on the future. Can you turn one of these side businesses into a full time business where you earn enough to stop working at a company? If so then I would take the more stressful job, learn more, make more, and then leave and be my own boss. If you are planning to work until you retire and since I see that you do value family life, well then I would stick it out where I am now. so u see it really all depends, but either way u go, i wish u best of luck!

Good question. My husband is in a situation similar. I really wonder because when I was working I always went for the better paying. Then because the better paying jobs were always in the bigger city since we lived in a small town, I had to drive two hours a day. Then the pay began not to matter so much. My husband is not making very good money now, but he doesnt want to deal with the crap at another company. I guess knowing what you can deal with vs what you might have to deal with is better.

Nope- I’d stay in the average paying job and still have time with my family- Money isn’t everything! I want to be able to spend as much time with my family as possible- I also would not want the added stress. Family is way more important than money! As long as I made enough to survive!

That would all depend on my family situation and where we were at i.e. financially. I would surely discuss the issue with my hubby and if we both decided that it was best I took a higher paying job, but would mean less time with the family, then I would make that sacrifice (remember it was a joint decision with my hubby and not my own decision). If we decided it was best that I take up a mediocre job and still have time with family, then I would do that also. I would not make the decision on my own, and would make sure we were both happy with it. If the higher paying job was just "too much" and it affected our family, then we would revisit our decision and decide from there.

well since I alreaday have good pay I wouldnt feel like I needed to take the higher paying job. Sounds to me like I already have the perfect job and the perfect life with my family. So why change that for more money? No way! =P

I will choose the average job which gives me more time for myself and family because its not common to see a situation where such jobs exists. I will make the best use of my time and try to utilise it to the fullest. There are lots of people out there who would want to have such job opportunity. When some thing like this comes your way you must try your best to make the best out of it and wait for what the future holds for you and your family. Have you ever heard that the king or queen of a particular kingdom wants to leave his or her throne because they are not doing any stressful job.
