Mothers, Will you do something special for yourself on Mothers Day?

I am a single mother, and so I like to do something special for myself on Mothers Day each year. On the actual day, I usually take the kids to shop for fresh flowers and we go out to dinner together. But I like to treat myself too. This year I bought a new pair of diamond earrings (and I refuse to open them until Sunday lol). Sometimes its just a new CD. Do you make it a point to treat yourself?

I treated myself early this year. I've needed a new camera for months, and I kept putting it on the bottom of the never-ending must pay first list. Last week I had an unexpected sum of money fall into my lap, enough for a new camera :) And I thought this is a sign. I bought a great camera, called it my mother's day present & feel no guilt over not paying a bill first.

Ahh yes - I have been divorced for 7 years now. I originally started my business offline, in the city. As a single mother I needed to be home more, and that's how my passion for helping others start a home-based business began!
Back to the topic though - thank you for the comment. I should think your mother will enjoy her gift very much.

probably not, i try to just live it like an ordinary day and not expect much. i have in the past and it ended up with me being depressed because my husband doesn't put much merrit into those type of holidays so doesn't do much. if i ever do get something, i'll surpriesed as hell. and anyway...i take care my kids with no babysitter because the only person i do have is my sister and she's now a mother too.

Your comment really hit close to the heart. I have been divorced for 7 years now, but I felt the same way that you do now while I was married. One year I decided to ditch the sad feeling, and just go shop for myself. I got a beautiful heart ring (diamond chips in white gold) during the after Christmas sale at the local jewelers. When I was happy and in love with life, I wore the heart facing out. When I needed to remind myself to love myself, I wore the heart facing me. It was a small thing, but it meant a lot to me. I wore that ring for 10 years, until it broke last summer. I have missed it ever since! This year I finally replaced it with a new ring - an opal set in 10k gold with two small diamond chip hearts on the sides. A small token that reminds me to love and appreciate myself for all that I am and all that I do - even if no one else seems to. *hugs*

I don't usually do anything for myself, but if I was a single mom I think I would do something similar to what you do. Just have fun with the kids, I love the flowers and dinner idea!!! Have a great Mother's Day!!!

I do love fresh flowers in the house. I usually do this on Valentines Day too. Actually if you go the morning after, you can get 2 or 3 bouquets for the price of one :D

I would love a day to pamper myself. I do need it lol. I need a pedicure and my hair cut. I would love to do that but I don't think that will happen.

Why not?
I need to make some appointments myself, but I am in the middle of some time-consuming projects at the moment. I'll get to it soon though! I was just curious what is keeping you from treating yourself to a little pampering?

I hope you have a good Mothers Day .
Though I am not a mother now, but if I become a mother, I think I will do something specail for myselfe.
In the world, you should not only treat others very well, but also should treat yourself very well .
As a mother, especially as a single mother, I think you have to work hard and pay more attention to your child .
So best regards to you and good luck with you.

Thank you :) I agree with you that its important to treat yourself well. If you become discontent, you have less to offer the rest of the world.

I am going to wake up, have coffee and sit down for some scrapbooking. If it were not Mother's Day I would finish my "chores" first - like folding the laundry.
