the longest hours you can sleep for

as an adult,we're suggested to sleep from 6-8 hours a day.but the actual hours we sleep for differ from different periods and different individuals, because sometimes we get too busy to sleep enough, yet sometimes we are laid back then we sleep more.i know some ppl can sleep for over 12 hours when they have nothing to do.they just sleep to kill time.but for me,i am really"bad at sleeping".i just get used to waking up at 7 in the morning.when the clock points at 7 am,i spontaneously get waked up and find it difficult to go back to sleep.
so do you have a set biological clock like i do?or you can sleep for hours as long as you want to?do you have an amazing record of it?lol

This is a topic near and dear to me because I love my sleep. That being said, I have noticed in the last year or so that I seem to need less overall. I used to sleep on weekends just as late as I possibly could and now by 8:30, I am usually ready to roll. That is still late, but in comparison, it isn't for me. There are nights I only get a few hours due to having things to do. I seem to survive. Great topic !

I tend to sleep 4 hours at a time. I will take a 4-hour nap in the afternoon and sleep four hours at night. I am still getting a total of 8 hours. This habit developed after having children. I would take naps with them. Now they are all grown and I still take naps. LOL

i dont really have a biological clock when it comes to sleeping. I sleep so bad at night, i have insomnia or something, i just lay there for HOURS. So then i only get like 3 hours of sleep at night and i am exhasuted during the day. So when a weekend comes, or a day when i dont have tons of things to do during the day, I wil sleep so much to catch up on my sleep deficit from the rest of the week. I think the longest I ever slept was like 14 hours, but i was sick. I DONT wake up at the same time everyday, i am always so tired that i have to set an alarm to get up or i would oversleep cuz my body wants rest. Sleep is GOOD, if youre tired youre body is trying to tell you something...that it needs to rejuvinate itself. I dont get why sleep is seen as a sign of "laziness." Its natural and needed, why such a negative stigma?

sometimes i find it hard to fall asleep as well so i know the feeling,it really sucks!i think you can try to drink warm milk and soak your feet in warm water for a while b4 going to bed, which help more or less to lots of ppl.as for the view that sleeping is kind of laziness,i'd like to put it in this way:spending too much time in sleeping is lazy.in your case i dont see laziness at all!:)

I can sleep for however long my insane mind decides. I can wake up after 1 to 14 hours perhaps. Yea, no typo there. Normally it doesn't get that crazy though. :P

i think its good to be adaptable like you!when final exam comes,i have to spend so much time reviewing lessons and reciting things that i can hardly get enough sleep.but my bottomline is 5 hours.so just one to two hours less than usual.but some ppl like my roommates can stay up all night to study!they just need some tea or coffee to fuel themsleves up in the moring then they will still do a good job in exam.how crazy!

Hi aciddrop I get 7 hours every night. I cant sleep anylonger then that. Its true the older you get you dont need as much sleep. I wake up by myself at 6:30 I cant sleep any longer. But when I was a teenager I could sleep for ever. I think its strange the way our body changes.

when i have school, the average time for my sleep is 6-7 hrs. i just can't put myself early for bed. 11 o' clock is the normal time for me to sleep and i wake up at around 6. but when vacation time comes, long sleeping strikes back. i remember one time when i slept at around 12am. i woke up at around 1pm. so there, that's the longest hours i can sleep for-- 13hours.

I guess it's "normal" for adult persons right now. I have the same predicament as yours, I always wake up at 6am or 7am, no matter what time sleep I the previous night. My body doesn't seems to bother whether I go to bed at 9pm or 3am, it's an automatic thing to me.

Hmm.. I think if I didn't have an alarm clock everyday to wake me up, I would sleep 12 hours or more everyday. I have Fibromyalgia. Chronic fatigue goes along with it.
Some mornings however, I have had to get up (before my alarm clock) because I can't sleep anymore. So I guess it depends. Pain also wakes me up.
So my response is kind of irrelevant since I have an illness. But I figured I would reply anyways :-)

The longest hours i can sleep for almost whole day.Last semester,I was so depressed with my life and one day I just laid on my bed and decided not attend to the class. Then I asked my dormmates to turn off the light and locked the door.I fell asleep and when I awoke,it was almost midnight.I didn't realize that I slept the whold day and even I had no sense of hunger.

I hate sleeping to much! Sleeping more than 8 hrs just makes me lazy, i just can't do it. I feel out of place when i sleep in to much. I feel like i have wasted half of the day. I do too wake up automaticaly, expect for me its not as early as 7. I got to bed around 1am every night and wake up at 9am.

Hello friend i want to share some idea about sleeping. I regularly work for night shifts in a Us Based company in India. I get very less time to sleep in day time. For the last one year i am exp the same routine. I support that if you cannot sleep for at 6 - 8 hours a day then you have to suffer from lots of stomach diseases.

The most I can sleep is 9 hours. However, I usually sleep from 6-7 hours. Ideally, I would sleep 8 hours a night. Sleep is very important to me. It reduces stress and I also consider it my "beauty sleep". I believe that the more you sleep, the better you look in the long run.

The other night I actually slept eight hours. I never do and usually only sleep 6 hours but I'm always tired in the late afternoon. I just need more energy !

I hate to say that I have this sleeping problem. Normal week day i usually sleep at 3-4am and have to meet 9am office time.
Then in the weekend, i sleep more than 12 hours. This sleeping pattern is straightly unhealthy, i have tried many methods to adjust it and hopes to get a normal biological clock as everyone else does. Wish me good luck.

Since I love to sleep the longest sleep I ever had was of 12 hrs for me. A day before I was attending the marriage ceremony of my cousin which makes me awake whole day so I sleep other day for 12 hrs. I feel when u sleep more than ur usual time u feels lazy to wake up and that makes u even sleep more...

actually for every hour you missed, you need to sleep two hours to make up for it
the longest i have ever slept is a traight 24hours after two days without sleep
guess i do have a biological clock but like an alarm clock, i only switch it on when it is necessary
when i dun have to wake up early the next day, i will try to psycho myself before falling asleep that i do not wake up early tomorrow
