Yes adding extra ram sticks will almost certainly make the computer faster. It's very easy, almost like Lego. They only fit into the slots where they are supposed to be inserted - couldn't be easier. But you have to get the right kind of ram for your computer and for that you have to look in the manual. If it's a bit to tecnical bring it with you to your local computer outlet and they can help you determine which ram sticks are the right ones for your computer.

The only way, as far as im aware, to add extra RAM (Random Access Memory) to a pc is to open up the computer and add a extra stick or two of RAM depending on how many free slots you have and that the RAM is compatible. Adding memory to a computer via USB (Univeral Serial Bus) is not something i had become aware of but the post up above raises a point of new methods of doing so, although this seems to be available via vista so thats maybe why i dont know anything about it. The best and traditional way however is to add memory into a free slot inside your pc.

Dear Darkness I raised the question in search of the new possibilities. For laymen opening and putting meory chips in empty slots is not easy. I wanted to verify possibilities with the USB ports.

Of course Readyboost doesn't replace good old ram. It's just a cheap way to make Your computer a little bit faster. Adding real ram gives better performance increase!

Only if you use Windows Vista will you be able to do that/ If you do have vista then you only need to get a good performance flash drive and plug it in and configure windows to use it as ram.

This is the funniest question I read here in mylot. USB is the name Universal Serial Bus, it do not use the high speed bus as what for the memory. They use different connection method to the system processor. Image if you have you system cache or swap in a USB memory, what will happen when you plug it off. no matter it is laptop or desktop the only way is to get a bigger memory. To make your computer faster, you can try to optimize your OS to say if there is a good improvment.

But that needs technical knowledge to open the PC etc. I am looking looking for the simplest way, you buy and plug in kind of support.
