You Are A Fat Idiot!!

When I saw "You are a Fat Idiot," I about fell over... First off, calling someone names doesn't help them lose weight. I come from a family of mixed body weights and metabolisms, so every diet ever has been tried by someone in my family...except the latest one being advertised. Some worked for some family members, others that didn't work for some, worked for others. This is partially why it burns my azz to see something so crass--then to see a ton of people promoting it. Second, some of the information on that site appeared to be bogus to me. Low fat diets DO work for some. Low carb diets DO work for others. Lack of exercise DOES cause weight gain for most human beings."You are a Fat Idiot" left my jaw hanging after I read it. All my life staying small to medium has been a struggle, and I'm here to tell you that NO DIET WORKS FOR EVERYONE. Read more here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Im_a_fat_idiot

It does depend on metabolism of each individual, probably the reason that one diet would work for one but not someone else. Then there are also some who exercise a lot, but still cannot lose weight, even when trying to diet also. Then there are some of those who go on a diet, lose weight, & then after a while, they're back to their original weight, & then find that going back on that diet is not helping them lose the weight this time. I'm remembering Oprah Winfrey. She went on a diet, lost a lot of weight, & then she put it back on.

I was so incensed when I saw that "You are a fat idiot" site, I forgot to get the link to it. I agree that metabolism and will power have most to do with success in dieting, but if you had seen the crap those people made up to belittle then scam money from the overweight...grrrr...saying that dieting and exercise are myths and you should eat basically whatever you want and their book will tell you how to change your diet every three days to keep your metabolism ready to process whatever you might eat, lose weight by doing nothing. It was crap. It took me 7 years to put my weight back on, but I should have it gone by the end of summer without the diet. I'm doing the crunches and trying not to eat in the middle of the night. That should do it, I'm not trying to lose it all in a month like when I was 28, lol.

You don't look fat to me in the slightest, but we are living in an era where women that are almost skeletons are seen as attractive. If they cough they are likely to snap!

I assure you that is not the case for me. I go through bouts where I'm all out of "givashit" and I had a bout this past year (yes, 3 consecutive semesters) with starting school all over again, I've basically sat around and went from a size 6/7 to a size 9/10...I can wear 8's in some brands of jeans & skirts tho, and am still 4-7 for a dress depending on its design. I'm no skinny minnie, and I'm no big beula. Just uncomfortable in my too tight jeans, lol. Cheaper to diet and do crunches than it is to buy a whole new set of jeans and dress pants...'tis a pity one cannot live in fuzzy pink jammies alone. ...all the eating on the run with no desire to prepare decent meals was so not worth it, but the 3.9 gpa is, so it is crunches and dieting while I'm out for summer. There's nothing wrong with eliminating the big no-no's temporarily (bread, potatoes, pasta, desserts, Coke's, etc.)

No, I don't think name calling works either. All it does is make someone feel worse about themselves. I think different things work for different people. As you already mentioned, different diets work for people too. I've found a lifestyle change has worked for me. It's more about eating healthy foods like yogurt or an apple for a snack instead of a handful of cookies. If I buy yourt and fruit instead of cookies, then they aren't there to tempt me! Small and easy change! With meals, particularly dinner, I make sure we have a fruit and/or a vegetable every meal. Not just meat and potatoes. These are just are couple examples of what I've done that's worked for me.

That's a great way to go, too. Keeps the whole family healthy, even those who can eat like ALF and never gain an ounce, lol. I had to learn to not let the consumption of sweets in my presence bother me. I learned buy treats that I don't like...Little Debbie has a ton of 'em, lol. My mom fed me healthy all my life, with little or no help from the rest of the family, so I like weird things like raw spinach with a little salt or ranch (3 gms per TBSP in regular ranch :D ), celery and cream cheese, raw baby carrots, radishes, etc. If I buy veggies for me and moonpies for them, it's all good. Everyone is happy.

Good luck, Shaun. It is hard to stick to, but if you follow it exactly, you'll never have to feel hungry.

You know, most of the over weight people I know (myself included) are depressed about it enough, they dont need people calling them names. They get enough of that already. I have to agree, no diet works for everyone. Everybody is different and people have different motabolisms and different body types. I think exercise helps most unless theres a health problem that prevents that. By the way, from looking at your picture, I cant see you being overweight at all. Thanks, Terry

That's another thing that irked me about that "fat idot" site, they said that exercise has nothing to do with it. Talk about insulting the intelligence of millions. Thanks for your support, Terry. --Shannon

i dont think dieting is a good idea beacause you should be happy with the size you are and that you are still alive.name calling doesn't really help overweight people i just lowers their self-asteam.which noone likes. All these crazy diets being invented are just making it harder to find a diet that works for you. xxx

I think that a healthy balanced diet is what was in mind when the human body was invented. Not only did that "fat idiot" site call names, but it said that exercise doesn't work, and we all know that's a big fat lie. Thanks so much for coming by to support the thread. Your attitude is a great one to have, really. It's too bad that everyone can't feel that good :D

Well, that is just so mean of anyone to call anyone else names. Not every person is created perfectly in this world and I think they deserve respect too just like everybody else.

Tell me about it! What really makes me sick is that "You are a fat idiot" is a freaking website trying to sell some scam diet. I was too mad to remember to get the link to the site. If you want to see it, you should be able to search it by the title. I'm telling ya, that superduper tripped my irate trigger when I saw some company trying to prey on the overweight by calling them names. Can you imagine calling someone a hurtful name then attempting to sell them something? I better stop talking about it for now, I'm starting to get mad at them all over again. Thanks for stopping by Lydia.

Hi Again, When I scrolled through your discussion list I felt compelled to comment on this discussion. I am a new mylot member and have not seen the "You Are A Fat Idiot" forum but would like to... it sounds both damaging and disgusting. I say this from personal experience. Those kind of negative descriptors about anyone's body can be a ticking time bomb that could eventually lead to the eating disorders anorexia nervosa and bulemia. They are bizzare mentods of weight control that are triggered in the brain when a person concludes that their self-worth is measured by the size of their body. I know because I caught in that trap for more years that I care to remember. Thankfully my personal challenges with the problem led me to the work I now do as a life coach, public speaker and group facilitator in the healthy living arena. All the talk about the outer appearance of the body has zippo to do with who any of us truly are. Getting caught in the dieting mentality to measure up to some outer authority can lead down a dangerous path. To me both genders need to revolt and say ENOUGH! You sound like you enjoy advocating for basic human rights and I think along similar lines. With that in mind it may be time to send a message to the entertainment and fashion industries to put a sock in it. Who made these FASHION POLICE ultimate authority on what anyone should like like..and in the grand scheme of things who really cares anyway? More importantly why do otherwise intelligent people buy into it and give their personal power away over a fashion icon? I agree with what others have said here about healthy weight management. I overcame both eating disorders by first and foremost valuing myself from the inside..not outer appearance. Then chose to get healthy and remain healthy...and said buzz off to all the fashioneestas who dictate to women and men of all ages about what the 'ideal' anything is. Once health becomes the priority a more balanced way of life is not too far behind. I could write volumes on celebrating the unique you that lives inside whatever body you are have ...but I think you get where I am coming from.

I totally get where you are coming from. Looks are not as important as many people seem to believe. Happiness with one's self is important, and if one is happier thin or big, then that is what that person needs to be: whatever makes them happy. You won't find a "you're a fat idiot" forum, I actually spotted that while surfing. It is a SALES site, if you can believe the audacity in that! A company wants to sell their dietary ebook/products and starts by insulting the prospects! Their sales site said things to the effect of "dieting and exercise have no bearing on anyone's size" and other things of that nature. So that's insulting as well as lying to the potential customer while holding their little greedy hands out to be paid. lol, I'm starting to get mad about it all over again... Yes, you're reading me correctly. I'm totally about basic human rights. Many seem to be too quick & easy to give up those rights out of fear or apathy these days. God gave me a big mouth and a backbone, I imagine this is why I was given those things & using those gifts to spread awareness and truth is the very least I can do as a human being taking up space on this rock we call home.
