I have a sister in law that just bought a $ 415 purse. It's a huge name brand . I forgot what it was called. Donny and something. I thought it was freaking nuts that someone would spend that much on a purse. Am I crazy? Do a lot of people spend this much $$$ on a purse or wallet? She spent over $ 100 on a wallet. I am a Wal-mart type of purse/wallet person. I can't seem to spend more than $ 20 on a purse. I think I ruin them too quick. Pen caps come off and ruin the insides. So.. My question is.. Are you the type that needs a purse? If so, do you buy big or do you buy cheap?Share your thoughts please.

I hate name brands, and the high prices for them, it isnt that I cant afford them, because I can, I choose not to buy them, because it is weird. I mean you pay the extra money for the tag, or the name, and why? Me, I will buy something especially a purse from wal-mart, target, or rose's anyday! If it does the job and is cute, why pay that much?

Oh, Rose's is an old Department store, been around for a LONG time, there arent many left I dont think, but they have really good deals, if you ever run into one...I dont see many anymore though, but they do have great bargains, so if ya ever see one, I'd stop in. =)

From what you are speaking, She got a Dooney and Burke bag; I had got one a few years ago; it was stolen from me, but I really enjoyed it while I had it.

I think spending $415. on a purse is a lot, but if you can afford it why not. Sometimes its good treat yourself. I only by leather purses and buy them every few years so l want something that will last. The last purse l bought is a "Sak" and lt was $100 bucks. I totally love it,even though it is more then l normally would spend. Hey I'm worth it!!!

The problem is, she can't afford it. They always have to ask my parents for money because they can't pay her bills but yet, she has to have the finer things in life. She makes me so aggravated sometimes. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Even baby nappies and a pocket for his milk :)

Anything over 25 bucks for a purse is waay to much in my opinion! I would never drop that much! For that much money they'd have to be water-proof, stain-proof, bullet proof, and just 100% indestructable! That purse she bought is almost a rent payment for me!

definitely not... i'm not going to spend my hard-earned money just for a purse or wallet even if i can afford it... i prefer to spend it for other more useful purposes... i only spend maximum of $50 for my wallet and that's it... i won't spend anymore than that cause i think it is a little bit too much... i always get my purse or wallet from the cheap store anyway...

I too, find spending a lot of money on a purse rather silly. However, I imagine if that is what one values, then more power to them! When buying a purse, I look for a purse that fits my needs. Many internal pockets for organization, plenty of room to dig in and see the contents without 'blind' fishing, a shoulder strap that allows the bag to fall right below the boobs, and as low of price as I can find! I have better things on which to spend my money! Ha! I think the most I have ever spent on a purse was 36 dollars. I felt that was a lot, but I knew that I would carry it for years. Indeed, it is on its 6th year! (it is a summer bag)

Hey Crazy. Thanks for responding. Sorry I am just getting around to answering all my discussion responses. I feel horrible. I normally get right back to people. Blind fishing. LOL Thanks for the laugh. I have a small purse and for some reason everything goes to the bottom no matter what I do and I am always fishing for a pen or something.

The most I have ever spent on a purse was $45.00 and it was real leather. No brand names for me. Most of my purses cost about $5.00 at Walmart. This one leather purse was for valentines day. My hubby asked me what I wanted. I told him. I expected him to say no way. But he said if you like it, get it. So I did. I have used that purse everyday for the past four years and it is still in excellent shape.

I am glad you got a nice purse for V-day. That is special and worth the $$$$ I am with ya on the $ 5 Walmart purses. They are just as cute to me!

Honestly, I really think thats way over the top for a purse LOL.
I can honestly say that I wouldn't spend anything on a purse, because I just don't carry them with me. I'm more one of those who has everything she needs when I have my keys, my cellphone, and all three kids hanging from my coattails LOL.
My sister used to spend up to $100 a time on a purse though I could never understand why she kept wanting new ones even though the one she was currently using was fine.

I have to admit purses are my weakness and I love good quality things. I did go to a Coach outlet and got a beautiful Coach bag that was marked down several times to almost less than half it's original value. It was still over a hundred dollars, but it was a bargain considering the original cost and the quality. When I have a very good bag, I take the extra care with it, but Coach stands behind their products for the lifetime of the bag so if I ever need to get it repaired for any reason, then all I have to do is bring it in.

I understand that there are people who put more importance on some things while others do not. As in the case of your sis-in-law who just splurged her money on a purse, it could be that she's really, really crazy over it. That's really insane...I mean for just a purse? For me, I always buy the cheap ones because anyway, purses are not that important. They just come and go. But it seems that your sis-in-law loves purses, and so she spends almost a fortune for it. Could it be that she's just putting her money where her heart is?

Never thought of it that way and what a good way to think about it. That could very well be it. She does love purses and that just may be it. I think I will call her and ask her this. LOL

$100 for a wallet, I will never go for a option like that even in my dream.What special purpose will it serve to us in spending extra $? simply nil. {Perhaps your sis-in law finds a speciality in it}

The most I have ever spent on a purse is $125. It's a green Dooney & Bourke and I absolutely LOVE it. They do sell bags that go for way more than that, but unless I was filthy rich I wouldn't spend more than the $125 I've already spent.
http://store.dooney.com/OA_HTML/ibeCZzpHome.jsp?minisite=10020&respid=22372
Aside from that one purse, the average that I normally spend is about $30. One of the reasons is that my taste changes every few weeks and I'll want something different; or my kids will spill something on it and stain it. The main reason though, is that there are more important things that the money can be used for. Being a stay at home mom, spending money on myself is a luxury but I don't mind giving that up for my family.

Dooney and Bourke- wow, that is what she bought. I don't think I will ever own one of those unless they were given to me as a gift. $ 125 is grocery money to me. LOL

Geesh her purse costs more than the rent on our apartment. I dont even carry a purse. I have one that I paid 10.00 dollars for at Wal-Mart about 5 years ago. I would never pay more than 10.00 for a purse.
