Inkwater Press...Good Bad and Tips for Someone Considering the Company

Okay, so I've done some research on the publishing industry as well as famous authors like Mark Twain who self-published, and I'm thinking of it as another option if traditional publishers choose to reject my children's novel. I stumbled upon a company called Inkwaterpress that describes itself as a "boutique" publisher. Based on its FAQ page, it seems like a self-publishing company, but I am not sure if it is exactly, because they have digital features not commonly ascribed to traditional "self-publishing" companies. Sorry for the long-winded post, but does anyone in this part of the MyLot community have experience with them? If you did, or with any other publishing companies, please do give its name as well as tell information about the company you've dealt with.

Why don't you just use Lulu.com? Never go with a vanity publisher, if you are going to self publish, go somewhere that leaves you in complete control of your work. With Lulu or any of the other reputable print on demand puclishers you load up the final polished version of your book, select teh bindings, format etc, and its ready to go. You can market it direct or they can list it on Amazon and teh otehr booksellers for you and they send you the difference between the printing cost and the price you set when someone buys. Very simple, and no financial layout at all from you.

Because I wasn't sure about LuLu. I heard that LuLu was very good, according to some, but wasn't sure if the site went out of business, how I could retain copyright and if anyone would want to join the site to purchase my novel. It'd be great if LuLu would work for me, but I think I'll consider self-publishing after trying the traditional route (but my self-publishing has to be free though, because I'm going to be mailing a lot of stuff and stamps went up today so there you go). Thanks for your informative and detailed response. Take care, nancy.
