I went to market with one of my friends on his byke.He was riding and I was sitting behind him. While returning, some one shouted at the street side.Hearing that unknown shout,my friend looked back and ,within fraction of that second our byke ,unfortunatly, hit the child who was crossing the road along with his mother. We anyhow prevented ourselves from skidding.Immedeately my friend said not to stop there and we ran as fast as possible.I rolled my head back and saw child holding his headside and was screaming badly in pain. Her mother was shouting at us with few people. For a moment I suggested my friend to see and take the child to hospital ,if required, but he refused and said that crowd would nab and beat us or report to authority. Its been 2 months since that event,Still I dont know what happened to them! I feel guilt, repentence and regret in my heart somewhere. If that decision of not stopping was correct? What could have been the other way?

Your thinking is absolutely right. You should have stopped and looked after that child. Running away would make people damn sure that it was a mistake from your friends side but if you had stopped and looked after that child than i think people should have understood you and have forgived you..

it's wrong if we run from our accident because it means that we don't have any responbility

...it was definitely wrong to run away after causing an accident especially that a child is involved in it. and i donĀ“t think the people would hit or beat you for causing the accident. but as you mentioned that there are many people around and the mother seem to be alright - maybe someone has brought the child to the hospital or given him/her the necessary medical attention... but only MAYBE, there is no certainty...for your own peace of mind it would be better to try to find out how the child is doing which maybe impossible. maybe your friend only intend to avoid the necessary hospital or medical cost for the child -which is naturally no justification for running away...maybe the least you can do for your peace of mind is that to make sure -never to let the same thing ever happen again...

The decision is against the law in most countries ;). It would have been better to stop, accidents can happen simply. Even if they would have reported you guys chances are slim anything could even have come out of it whilst now if someone would have recognized you and reported you for running away after an accident you actually might have been in quite a lot of trouble.
