My daughter-in-law finally gave birth to a bouncing baby girl this morning (Saturday May 12)! She had a few complications and finally had to have a c-section, but mother and baby are both fine. The baby weighed 8lb.5ozs, so she is a big one; she is beautiful, but of course I am biased! They are calling her Mackenzie Grace. My son is over the moon, and a very proud father; this is his first child.
I want to thank all of you for your well wishes and prayers, they were gratefully received; it meant a lot to me, thankyou again.

Thanks for the congrats, and yes, we are very proud = typical grandparents! I'm glad you like the name Mackenzie Grace - so many people on MyLot have commented on it.
I have missed you here, but glad that you are heeding your doctor's orders - it will be better for you in the long run. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my discussion, I appreciate it.

Congratulations on the new baby. I had my middle child by Cesarean, it is very painful when you leave the hospital. I had a lot of aches and the pulling of the stiches was almost unbearable but I guess that everyone is different when it comes to this.
I read in your other post that she had to have a Cesarean so wish her luck for me.
My youngest daughter's name is Montana Grace. I always wanted to live in Montana and we call her Gracie. She is a hand full but a lovely child.

Thanks rosa! This is my third grandchild, but my other two live in Florida so we don't get to see them very often. This one will be spoilt, as you can imagine! Montana Grace is such a lovely name, I love it. My daughter-in-law seems to be coping quite well with having a cesearean, and we are around if she needs extra help.

Thanks gabs. Yes, they are both doing fine, and I am actually looking after her tonight - her first sleep-over with us! It's 11.45pm here now and I just gave her a feed, changed her and put her down and she is asleep again! She is so good. We'll see what kind of night we have - I'll let you know. We are keeping her all day Sunday as well, just to give my son and his wife a break.

Thanks Kathy, mother and baby are both doing fine. 8lb 5oz is a good sized baby, and she is just perfect. So many people including yourself have commented that they love the name Mackenzie, and I must agree, it's quite different - I love it too. We are all thrilled with this precious little bundle of love.

I love the picture of your grandgirl. She is precious. Congragulations! If you are a first time grandmother you are in for some special times ahead. If you are not a first time grandmother you already know this. I have three grandkids and they are the apple of my eye. They spend the night one night a month and I absolutely love it. We have a lot of fun. So congragulations grandma and grandkids are so very special.

Thankyou sunshinelady. I have to admit that she is a gorgeous baby, and she is so placid! This is our third grandchild, but our other two live in Florida (we live in Australia), so it's like having our first again. You are right - grandchildren are so special. We feel so blessed and fortunate.

She is beautiful, isn't she? Mackenzie is a lovely name, everyone seems to like it, and it's quite unusual. Yes, she is quite a big baby, and is the same weight as her father was at birth, but my youngest son was bigger 9lb 2oz, so it must run in the family! I myself was 9lb 7oz! I will be happy to keep you posted with photos of her.

Hi Abbey. This is what its all about my granddaughter when she was born became the joy of my life. It is so amazing how they can be so perfect wee babies, who will in no time develop a personality , and having us do handsprings just to make them smile. Every day I see her I notice something different, She is my treasure and my joy and soon if not already you will understand that context. My grandson lives in Edmonton and I do not get to see him all that often and It is a sorrow for me as he is a year younger than my granddaughter Aubrey will be 7 on June 17, and Duncan Was 6 on Feb 9. They are the only 2 grand kid I have and probably that will be it for me. I can so understand why grandparents want to See several little ones. But I do feel blessed with what I have , and speaking of which its time got me to go and pick up Aubrey as I am looking after her today. No daycare on Saturdays

Thanks Robin, and I am certainly looking forward to forming a close relationship with this precious little one like you have with Aubrey. I understand how you feel about not seeing your grandson often, because we have two grandchildren in Florida who we don't see very often, so it's wonderful for us that we will get to see this one practically every day.

Thanks mizrae for your welcome to my sweet little granddaughter. She is a very appropriate present for my daughter-in-law the day before Mother's Day! We are all still on cloud 9, and I can't wait to see her again today! Guess I'm going to be one doting Nana.
