Here is a short but ghastly story for you. I was at a charity night out a couple of weeks ago with my brother. We both had a pretty good time and drank quite a few beers, now all the guys out there will know what I mean but you know how when you are out on a night out and you start drinking alot and you need to pee a bit more. Well you also know that you always end up going to the toilet at the sametime as some other guy for the whole night. Well when I went to the toilet my local dentist was going to the toilet also he would say hello and create small talk and so on. A couple more drinks are consumed and I need the toilet again and there he is the dentist again. This is what I did not like and had not noticed the first time. When he was leaving the toilet he walked straight past the sink and back to the bar. Now I know some of us guys can be unhygenic at times but this man is a dentist and i would think he would be washing his hands all the time. needless to say I am now seeing another dentist.

I can't count the number of times I have been in a local Wal-Mart store and seen adult ladies walk out of the restroom without washing their hands. It makes me wonder if they wash their hands at home before cooking a meal for their families. I wash my hands so many times during the day after going to the restroom and other things that is a wonder I even have skin on my hands.

I too wash my hands many times a day. After using the restroom, before I cook, before I eat, just for the heck of it. And I can say for a fact that I hardly ever get sick.

this only shows that how we had been trained in childhood matters most when we become adults. you are hygiene conscious because, your parents had told you that it is important to be so. your former dentist was not brought up in an atmosphere as you did have.

Oh gosh, that is really gross!! I certainly can't say as I blame you for switches dentists! I assume he at least washes his hands at work or he'd be in trouble, but that's still totally disgusting, and I wouldn't trust him either! I think that's one of my pet peeves when people go to the bathroom and then don't wash their hands afterward. I think it's so gross. I think it's gross even if you're at home, but especially in a public restroom, cause then you're touching handles and stuff in the bathroom that other people touched right after they went to the bathroom too!! Ick!

ROFL, I would have been aghast over that. Man, unbeliveable. I don't blame you for leaving him, and finding another dentist. I would have done the same. Yuck, he should be reported to the dental association.

Good idea...maybe you should start looking for a new dentist...hehehe. Well, some people sometimes just lazy or forget to wash their hands after they urinating. That's why don't take any free peanuts on the bowl on any table/ bar. You'll never know....
I'm glad that my dentist always wear hygiene hand gloves when he check my mouth...

That is horrifying! One would think that someone in the healthcare field would be fastidious about handwashing, but your example shows not. I don't eat peanuts or mints from bowls at restaurants, because you just don't know if the last person who stuck his hand in did wash their hands. I am also amazed at how many people don't use soap when washing hands. A few drips of water doesn't cut it!

EEWWWW How gross! You should always always wash your hands for 30 second (sing happy birthday 3 times) to prevent disease. Makes me wonder if you could report such a person? That would be wrong to not wash hands and then stick them in someones mouth ICKY! :(

All I can think is EEEWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! I would not want this mans hands anywhere near me let alone my mouth. And your right most ppl like dentists, doctors, nurses, ect. tend to wash their hands all the time out of habit which would make me wonder if this dentist bothers to wash them at his office.

Wow, that's totally disgusting. I think some people believe that if they are only urinating, then they need not wash their hands. It is true that urine has no bacteria as long as a person has no infections, but still the whole bathroom itself is teaming with bacteria and that alone should prompt a good hand washing. I don't blame you for changing dentists by the way. Good thing you were made aware though so it's a blessing in disguise.
